We are currently seeking a Head of Engineering for our Singapore office, a fulltime position focused on HVAC systems for the Marine & Offshore Industry.
Job Overview
The Head of Engineering will be responsible for leading the engineering team, overseeing all technical aspects of the design, development, and implementation of HVAC systems.
This role demands a high level of expertise in HVAC and Marine systems, project management, and leadership to ensure the efficient execution of engineering projects while meeting both company objectives and client expectations.
As Head of Engineering, you will lead a team of HVAC Design Engineers and collaborate closely with the Project Manager(s) and report to the Head of Projects and Technical Department.
Your key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1. Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of HVAC engineers and designers ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Provide guidance, training and professional development opportunities to engineering staff.
- Support the continuous improvement of the engineering team.
2. Project Management & Execution
- Oversee and manage engineering projects from conception (tender stage) through to completion (Basic & Detailed engineering), ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets and quality standards.
- Work closely with project managers, suppliers, OEMs and clients to define project scopes, specifications and deliverables.
- Ensure that projects comply with relevant and applicable HVAC codes, standards and regulations.
- Develop and review basic & detailed engineering designs, technical specifications, OEMs’ documentation and system drawings.
- Develop and manage budgets for engineering projects, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising on quality.
3. Quality Control & Compliance
- Ensure all engineering designs and systems meet regulatory requirements, industry standards and internal company guidelines.
- Perform quality assurance checks on engineering designs, ensuring accuracy and completeness before submission to clients or construction teams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve engineering-related issues during and after project implementation.
4. Collaboration & Client Interaction
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, providing expert advice and solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate with other departments such as sales, procurement and operations to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Attend client meetings and site visits to assess project needs and resolve technical issues.
5. Reporting Responsibilities
- Provide regular updates to the Head of Projects and Technical Department on the progress of the engineering phase for ongoing projects.
- Identify and report to the Head of Projects and Technical Department any potential risks and technical challenges related to ongoing projects.
- Report on the performance of the engineering team, including achievements, challenges and areas for improvement.
