Job Summary
- A talented and passionate senior individual to join Standard Chartered as a Sr Software Developer. In this role, you will play a key role in the overall journey to treating infrastructure as code in the Storage and Backup domains, under the umbrella of Private Cloud Infra. This entails developing, automating, and working with stakeholders on requirements to improve the overall customer experience and streamlining processes to minimise minimal human engagement. This role will play a critical part in helping shape and guide the future growth and development for Private Cloud Infrastructure and will be responsible for the creation and transformation of the capabilities that will define how we organise to deliver on the strategy. This includes leading the design and delivery of platform and storage capabilities crucial to our strategy. In addition, you will be instrumental in driving the engineering excellence culture and promoting engineering practices for the organization. This includes defining the proper practices for code reviews, testing, software and pipeline design, and ensuring proper security and reliability practices are enforced.
- Transformation, Technology & Operations (TTO) is a global organisation providing Cloud, Data, End User, Infrastructure, Integration, IT Service Management, Network and Security capabilities to all our clients and colleagues globally with an operating budget of $500mil USD and $200mil USD of change

Key Responsibilities
Strategy
• Have the responsibility to understand the overall infrastructure and architectural designs to translate to code that will be adopted by the technology teams and business users
• Lead the design and delivery of strategic initiatives for T&A
• A versatile developer that can be the subject matter expert for certain areas of the private cloud platform
• Standardised and simplify software deployments
• Solving complex problems with best practice coding and engineering to enable business and platform performance
• Ensure adequate coding and engineering practices are implemented to deliver to the highest standard across the department
• Develop and champion solutions through coding and automation
• Ensure platform delivery and services meet highest level of standard of availability and reliability.
• Ensure platform delivery and services meet security and risk requirements and operational SLA.
• Perform extensive periodic code-review and improvements to our code-base
• Perform extensive periodic reliability and security review to our platform
• Anticipate and evaluate business challenges and take action to mitigate
• Develop opportunities for innovation and out of the box thinking
• Enforce (through automation) engineering processes and policies and associated risk controls
Business
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Deliver new solutions and new practices to ensure the organisation capitalises on industry learning and growth
• Contribute to new business initiatives and projects
• Appraise and interpret complex requirements to understand the impact of the organisation's ability to deliver change
Processes
• Realize the end-to-end delivery practice and its associated list of processes
• Responsible for delivery processes
• Be responsible for the risk management of change
• Drive the optimisation of delivery by reviewing and optimising data pertaining to the effectiveness of change
Risk Management
• Own the risks linked to the delivery of code into production
• Own the risks linked to the maintenance of code in production
• Own the end-to-end risks associated with the dev/test environments and the requisite tooling
• Drive for the closure of risks, operational events and audit findings on time, once and done
• Educate the team on risk management and continual mitigating of risk
• Comply with organisation risk management framework
• Find automated solutions to reduce risk and prevent human and manual solutions

• Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.

Our Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent, and 10 years’ experience in Software Engineering, DevOps, or related fields.
- Demonstrate expertise in developing and designing reliable software for distributed systems.
- Has good fundamentals pertaining to software engineering, containers, databases, networks, and infrastructure.
- Has experience working for heavily regulated financial institutions with a good understanding of security and risk.
- Ability to demonstrate expertise in one or two programming languages preferably Python and Golang
Role Specific Technical Competencies
- Coding – Python, Ansible, Ruby, Perl, Scripting, etc
