Responsibilities

• Work with Volt14’s R&D team on the development of novel, high-performance silicon-rich anode electrodes and battery cells. Ensure that the developed system meets Volt14’s required performance targets.
• Develop insights from electrochemical testing coin/pouch/cylindrical cell configuration (cycling tests, EIS, GITT, etc) and material characterisation results (SEM, XRD) for iterative anode performance improvement. Tie experimental observations to known electrochemical/electrode model and theory.
• Lead all activities for internal development of full cells based on Volt14’s anode technology in various cell formats and cathode chemistries (NMC, LFP, etc).
• Perform glovebox, wet-laboratory operations and implement wet-laboratory best practices.
• Develop mathematical/physical models and characterisation of process steps related to material/electrode/cells from literature and first principles.
• Liase with technical collaborators and external parties to ensure the successful preparation of cells using Volt14's technology platform. Prepare technical documentation for internal record keeping and for external presentation as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum of masters degree (with 3-5 years of industrial experience) or PhD (with 0-2 years of industrial experience) in Chemical/Electrical/Materials Science Engineering or Electrochemistry. Experience with commercial projects during the PhD/Masters program will be favorably considered.
• Previous research experience must demonstrate an ability to tie experimental findings with fundamental theory. Experience with silicon anode/related materials is a plus.
• Must be able to independently identify gaps in the fundamental understanding of electrochemical phenomenon of interest and eventually become a resident expert.
• Should be a proactive self-starter, capable of working under minimal supervision and be highly comfortable in working in a start-up environment.

About the role

• You'll be an experienced real-time embedded system engineer with excellent knowledge in software build/test/release process for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD). Working in an agile cross-functional team, you will be a key member of the embedded software platform team and contribute to the development of CI/CD pipeline, sensors integration, system kernel and board bring up, and providing unified hardware abstraction layer to enable the development of more complex behaviour features in the upper application layer of edge devices.
• You desire to create high quality, robust code to solve diverse real-world problems. You must be fluent in C++ and be comfortable in the whole product life cycle, including design, implementation, deployment, testing and debugging of firmware and application code.

Key Responsibilities

About You

• 10+ years of work experience in embedded system development, including board bring up, embedded Linux kernel/driver porting for system integration, and MCU/RTOS firmware development.
• Must have industry experience in architecting software application running on embedded system.
• Experience in fulfilling continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline setup.
• Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience in Linux tool-chain, Yocto build system, version control tool (git), configuration, etc.
• Experience in configuration and use of sensor devices over I2C, SPI, UART with DMA
• Experience in sensors/camera/BT/Wifi modules integration and calibration is a plus.
• Experience in automated testing and manufacturing test process is highly desired.

• Develop and design IC sockets and components, utilizing CAD software such as SolidWorks and NX-Ideas to create and modify drawings based on NBO/NTO.
