We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Engineer to join our team in the field of Virtual/Augmented Reality (VR/AR) and Large Language Models (LLMs) for Pilot Simulation Training. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and development in the aviation industry, with a focus on leveraging VR/AR and LLM technologies for pilot competency based simulation training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on the application of VR/AR and Large Language Models in pilot simulation training, aiming to enhance realism, interactivity, and instructional effectiveness.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, data scientists, and aviation experts to define research objectives and develop innovative approaches for integrating VR/AR and LLM technologies into pilot training simulations.
• Design and develop VR/AR-based training environments that utilize LLMs to generate dynamic and realistic dialogue interactions for pilot-instructor communication, scenario-based training, and decision-making exercises.
• Conduct usability studies. Collect and analyze data from VR/AR simulations and pilot training scenarios to evaluate the effectiveness and performance of the simulation modalities.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, or research assistants. Publish research findings in prestigious journals and present at conferences and industry events to contribute to the scientific community and promote advancements in VR/AR, LLMs and pilot simulation training.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering or a related field, with a focus on VR/AR, Natural Language Processing, or Human-Computer Interaction.
• Strong background and research experience in VR/AR, Large Language Models, or related fields, demonstrated through high-quality publications in reputable conferences or journals.
• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in VR/AR and LLM research, such as Python, C++/C#, or Unity.
• Experience with VR/AR hardware and software platforms.
• Familiarity with state-of-the-art Large Language Models, such as GPT-4 or similar architectures, and their applications in natural language processing tasks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.

LPE Singapore is an international primary school accredited by the French Ministry of national Education and offering a plurilingual educational approach in accordance with the French national curriculum. The school currently counts around 120 students from N1 to G3, and is continuing its development with the opening of the G4 and G5 levels in September 2024.

Duties:

• Teaching in English the French Curriculum to 2 classes of primary school students
• Sharing the class with your French-speaking counterpart, planning the programme for the week together
• Closely monitoring the children and their learning progression, and reporting this information to the school director and to the families accurately
• Coordinating with the classroom Teaching Assistant (French or English speaking) for daily programme and matters
• Contributing to the development of a special pedagogical project across school, in line with the school project and the French curriculum
• Teaching the “Activités Pédagogiques Complémentaires” (APC) according to the schedule provided by the School
• Supervising morning breaks and/or afternoon breaks according to the schedule provided by the School
• Attending the team meetings according to the schedule provided by the School;
• Participating in the school’s events outside of teaching time (i.e. end of year fair, open house and gardening days), and that may occur over the weekend

Job Requirements:

• Holder of the French diploma in Early Childhood (titulaire du diplôme de Professeur des Ecoles) or Diploma in Early Childhood Care & Education – Teaching (DECCE-T) or above qualification
• Minimum 3 years work experience as a teacher
• Fluent in French and English Language.
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills to work together with the team on common projects and understand and support the children who have difficulties

Job Description

The Centre for English Language Communication (CELC) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) prepares its undergraduate and postgraduate students for higher education and the workplace by equipping them with academic communication, professional communication, and other 21st century skills. CELC offers courses that range from basic academic literacy courses to academic writing, critical thinking, and professional communication courses. It also runs undergraduate writing programmes (e.g., Ideas & Exposition) that adopt the ‘content and language integrated learning’ (CLIL) approach. CELC therefore plays a significant role in fulfilling NUS’ mission “to educate, inspire and transform”.

CELC invites applications for the following full-time non-tenure educator track teaching positions.

Position of Lecturer

Applicants for the position of lecturer must meet the first two of the following selection criteria:

1. A master’s or doctoral degree in the field of English language, linguistics, applied linguistics, rhetoric and composition, communication studies, science communication, or a related field

OR
A master’s or doctoral degree in a non-language related academic field, e.g., the humanities, social sciences, business, or STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), with experience or evidence of expertise in teaching academic writing or professional communication.

2. The equivalent of two years of full-time experience teaching in higher education.

3. The following qualities will be viewed favourably:

• Experience in course design and material development for academic writing or professional communication courses.
• Experience in teaching beyond proficiency and EAP courses, such as courses in research writing for later year undergraduates, thesis writing for graduate students, and professional communication.
