We are currently seeking a highly qualified individual to join the Public Sector team (PS) team in our Singapore office. To become a member of the client coverage on the Public Sector Banking Team. Contribute in deepening client relationships, gain profound understanding of the industry dynamics, and as a result contribute to our results through focused business development activities, while providing an outstanding and unique client experience for our customers. Key focus of the role is leading regional coverage of Central Banks plus driving growth with Sovereign Wealth Funds that are investing in Asia.
Team Description
The Public Sector team in Asia is a growing and exciting segment within HSBC, focused on the coverage of a very interesting scope of institutions in the public sector scope, including multilateral development banks, central and local governments, development banks, government agencies, central banks and other select state owned entities. We are a product agnostic sector group in charge of managing the relationship with our clients, understanding their needs, their industry trends and ensuring HSBC supports them in achieving their financial objectives. Our coverage model is delivered through a sector-dedicated and globally-managed Public Sector Banking team, bringing global trends and ideas to our local clients. HSBC is an award winning service provider to Public Sector clients across many fronts, including sustainability, debt capital markets, and project finance among others.
About the Job
The individual will be responsible for ongoing relationship management, credit and financial crime risk and origination of new business. The individual will be responsible for the development of relationships with Public sector clients, with a particular focus on supranationals based in Asia. They will act as global relationship manager for some of the largest and most strategic clients covered by the public sector team globally, and Regional Relationship Banker for other supranationals. The existing client base includes some of the world’s leading supranationals that have extensive business in Asia, and require ample geographic support based on their presence in +180 countries.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Proactively driving growth with Sovereign Wealth Funds investing in Asia.
- Co-ordinating the delivery of HSBC’s product and services to clients, continuously exploring the dynamic opportunities this portfolio presents
- Leading the origination and execution across the spectrum of Global Banking and Markets products and services including Debt capital markets, Structured products, Global Markets solutions, securities services, asset management solutions, real asset and fund financing and global cash management
- Demonstrating leadership in the ESG front in looking for financial solutions and thought leadership that positions HSBC to excel in the coverage of the supranationals portfolio
- Working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure that transactions are balancing risk and return, are in compliance of both internal and external requirements and safeguarding the bank against any material loss
- Developing a thorough understanding of the client base and ensuring strategic and business objectives are achieved
- Driving revenue generation against targets, product alignment, customer satisfaction, cost containment and supporting development and training of more junior staff
- Developing and maintaining effective and beneficial relationships with individuals at the clients and internally within HSBC
- Acting as the First Line of Defence to protect HSBC against Financial Crime and to ensure credit risk arising from the relationship with the clients managed is correctly managed at all times
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you will require:
- Senior banking experience working with supranationals and public sector clients across jurisdictions and products.
- Proven credentials that demonstrate the individual can originate and execute complex transactions across multiple jurisdictions and products, preferentially with public sector clients.
- Outstanding collaboration skills and the ability to lead by influence, necessary to manage relationships that have contact points across multiple countries, and involve multiple senior stakeholders within HSBC
- The ability to work in our Singapore offices and travel frequently to meet clients around the globe. Proactively lead, coordinate and execute high profile meetings and events that contribute to our business development efforts and support HSBC’s strategy.
- Extensive experience within, and strong knowledge of, Global Banking & Markets, with a particular focus on relationship management
- Proven relationship management skills with global clients and a track record of C-Suite engagement and trusted advisor status
- A deep knowledge of global markets, securities services, capital markets, cash management and asset management products with a proved ability to identify opportunities and drive these with product partners to execution
- The ability to form effective relationships and exercise influence at the most senior level of the organization, both internally and externally
- A strong understanding of risk management and risk mitigation
- Uphold the highest level of integrity and act as a role model for all HSBC values and business principles
