The Department of Architecture invites applications for two Tenure Track Assistant Professor positions in Architectural Design.

The Department of Architecture in the College of Design and Engineering is ranked among the top 10 in the world, and Asia’s best in Architecture/Built Environment, by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings (2023). It offers the professionally accredited Master of Architecture programme as well as a range of graduate and undergraduate programmes in related fields such as urban planning/design, landscape architecture and conservation. Research by Design (RxD) at the Department of Architecture seeks qualified, interdisciplinary, and inspirational candidates with expertise in creative practice research (research through design, as opposed to research for design or research about design). We seek candidates with expertise in design with foundations in decarbonized & planet-positive futures, warming world futures, social justice, and inclusive futures, with a particular focus on being situated in the tropical geographies of Southeast Asia and the equator. Candidate research should be manifested through a robust portfolio of creative practice outputs and substantiated through forms of peer review and public and societal engagement, with evidence of leading with anticipatory and future-forward design ideas that impact evolving society and the profession. We are especially interested in candidates who are leaders in Research by Design methods in the academy and who leverage creative practice to imagine and manifest a more just world.

Successful candidates are expected to teach and lead design studio courses related to research by design, with core, elective, and seminar courses to complement the design studio.

Job Description

The incumbent will provide administrative support to the Undergraduate Studies Section, Dean's Office, Faculty of Science. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following -

1) Faculty Co-ordinator for timetabling

• Keep abreast of Science Faculty Curriculum Committee (SFCC)/Board of Undergraduate Studies (BUS)/University Committee on Educational Policy (UCEP)/Senate approved proposals to facilitate planning and scheduling of classes and examinations.
• Coordinate with departments for planning of following academic year's timetable in the Class and Examination Timetabling System (CMIS).
• Update class and examinations timetable changes as and when required.
• Work with departments to verify accuracy of data and resolve any issues for the purpose of Student Feedback Exercise.

2) Pre-examination preparation and during examination support

• Plan and coordinate examination activities for each Academic Year according to the timelines and deadlines stipulated by Registrar's Office.
• Coordinate system updates for examinations related information and ensure data is appropriately entered.
• Act as liaison between Registrar's Office and departments to ensure that all necessary information are disseminated and shared with all parties involved.
• See to the examinations logistical requirements as well as arrangements for students with special needs.

3) Post-examination activities

• Coordinate and work closely with departments to complete the necessary checks and comply with the examinations processing schedule stipulated by Registrar's Office.
• Perform the duties of Faculty's Board of Examiners Secretariat and ensure that decisions made are updated accurately and quickly in Edurec and followed through.
• Plan, conduct and prepare report for examinations audit.

4) Undergraduate Studies Section duties

• To be rostered for section duties such as taking notes of regular section meetings, replying to email enquiries from students, and counter duties.

5) Others

• Provide assistance at University/Faculty level events such as Open House, Freshmen Orientation Briefing, and Commencement.
• Any other duties as assigned by the Vice Dean.

The division facilitates research collaboration agreements with partners and manages the adoption of research outputs by identifying, protecting, and licensing project IP to the industry.

The candidate will report to Director of the division. S/he is responsible for managing Technology Transfer for the university, namely, managing the Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio arising from research output. The job scope includes drafting and negotiation of research and licensing agreements, educating and creating awareness of intellectual property to academic staff, protecting and valuing the IP, structuring and negotiating IP licensing deals, conduct market landscape analysis as well as managing IP database and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Regularly review, update and formulate Intellectual Property Policy to evolve with progress of the university and industry feedback
• Develop and regularly review IP licensing strategies, licensing structure and guidelines to maximise adoption of research output
