A Clinical Microbiologist position is available at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) in Singapore.

KKH is an 830-bed tertiary-level care hospital that provides obstetric, gynaecological, paediatric and other services. It is part of the SingHealth group of public hospitals. As an academic medical centre, KKH is a teaching hospital for Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.

The position is based at the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (DPLM), which provides a range of comprehensive laboratory services to KKH and includes the Microbiology Service of which this position is a part.

The Clinical Microbiologist will be part of a team of two microbiologists. They will provide diagnostic and consultative clinical microbiology services to the hospital and participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities commensurate with the activities of an academic medical centre. The activities range from bench-level advice and management of the clinical microbiology service, quality control of a medical diagnostic laboratory to communication of critical microbiology results, antimicrobial treatment advice and other consultative services to staff of all clinical disciplines in the hospital. • Handle patient inquiries and concerns. Address patient questions and concerns, providing excellent customer service and ensuring patient satisfaction.
• Appointment scheduling and coordination. Schedule and confirm patient appointments, coordinate with medical staff, and manage the appointment calendar.

Operational Support

• Support clinic operations. Assist with various administrative tasks to support the overall operations of the clinic, including registering/discharging patients at the counter, clerical tasks, restocking of clinic supplies and other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking for

• ITE, Diploma or equivalent; additional certification in Healthcare Administration or related field is a plus.
• Previous experience in a Medical administrative role or similar position is highly preferred.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in using medical software and office applications.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and billing practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High level of discretion and confidentiality.

Job Scope :

• Cleaning and polishing of teeth
• Scaling of teeth
• Root planning of teeth
• Application to the teeth of solutions of sodium or stannous fluoride or such other similar prophylactic solutions such as the Singapore Dental Council may from time to time determine
• Application of rubber dam
• Exposure of radiographic films intraorally or extraorally for the investigation of lesions of the mouth, jaws, teeth and associated structures.
• Usage of infiltration anaesthesia in procedures such as scaling or root planning
• Taking alginate impressions of the upper and lower dentition
• Giving of advice on matters related to dental hygiene
