Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant (RA) will assist to plan and execute research studies to better understand the impact of heat on various populations. • Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

7. Responsible for operating vessels within KPIs set out by Wallem’s SMS while maintaining priority on safety and pollution prevention. The Assistant Fleet Manager works with other departments of Wallem for meeting commercial expectations and maintaining vessels sea-worthy.
8. Act as Client/Owners point of contact ensuring the highest level of customer Service & Satisfaction are maintained whilst also protecting the Wallem brand and our employees from risk.
9. Provide Direction, Coaching, Guidance, Mentoring and Evaluation of senior sea staff to ensure that all operations are carried out safely & successfully whilst also enabling senior sea staff with their individual career progression & development.
10. Monitor and maintain a thorough knowledge of current Assistant Fleet Manager Work Instructions which may be subject to review and revision from time to time, whilst completing all Tasks detailed in the Assistant Fleet Manager Work Instructions for nominated vessels.
11. Monitor and optimize vessels and seafarers’ performance. Collaborates with other stakeholders to ensure that vessels and seafarers have adequate resources to perform.
12. Review, write and provide feedback on development area of seafarers, work-performance during specific contract, while setting clear goals and targets.
13. Act as part of the Shore base Emergency Response team as required.
14. Complete any additional tasks as reasonably requested by the Fleet Manager.
15. Provide backup support to the Fleet Manager and oversee fleet in his absence.

Qualifications & Experience

• Engineer Officer Qualification, with First Class Chief Engineers Motor license from an IMO whitelist country; OR
• Degree in Marine Engineering/Naval Architecture/Mechanical Engineering or other related.
• Minimum of 2 years’ sailing experience as Chief Engineer) onboard; OR
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience as Technical Superintendent or Assistant Fleet Manager within the Maritime Industry ashore.

Job Capsule

Will be responsible for providing clerical and administrative support to members of the Human Resources Department and occasionally to Administrative Services as directed. Primary function of this position will be to maintain the workflow by assisting with the fulfilment of procedural requirements relative to proper documentation, filing, and follow-through. Documentation includes, but is not limited to, preparation of employment related correspondence, new hire and payroll documents, HRIS data entry, and related checksheets. Will handle information that is highly confidential and sensitive on a daily basis.

Job Duties/Roles

1. Provides administrative and clerical support to members of the Human Resources Department.

2. Sets up and maintains personnel files and central filing system.

3. Serves as point of contact for employee questions regarding all facets of Human Resources.

4. May post employment information on main bulletin boards within the office or by electronic means, if a position becomes available that could be filled internally.

5. May process vendor invoices for payments.

6. Coordinates travel and hotel arrangements for applicants, relocating employees, and other employees as required.
