If successfully selected, you will be seconded to MOE primary school located in Hougang.

Contract Period: From 20 Dec 2024 to 19 Dec 2026.

Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:

• Mondays to Fridays: 7:30am to 4:00pm, inclusive of half-hour lunch break
• Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays

The service required are set out as follows :

• Oversee day-to-day running of the school’s science laboratories and facilities
• Station and move around the Science Lab during Science lab lessons to provide assistance to students.
• Work closely with respective level subject reps and teachers to ensure that the resources for all hands-on activities are prepared prior to conduct of lessons.
• Prepare all necessary equipment and materials needed by Science teachers to carry out hands-on activities, experiments and demonstrations. (refer to Science Activity Worksheets provided by respective Science Level reps)
• Maintain laboratory equipment, apparatus, materials and specimens in good working condition
• Report all faulty machines and equipment immediately
• Keep a stock book and breakage record and indicate to HOD Science for necessary replacement
• Prepare an inventory of stocks annually and inform HOD Science to make the necessary purchase.
• Maintain a usage record
• Maintain a safe and tidy lab environment
• Devise alternative hands-on activities in replacement to the ones found in the activity book
• Provide care to the butterflies in the creature watch area i.e. obtaining fresh cuttings from the garden to feed them and clearing the enclosure of their waste.
• Provide care to the chicks in the creature watch area
• Management of the desk copies for Science teachers
• Prepare the materials requested by teachers to carry out ad-hoc hands-on activities.
• Provide support to CCAs such as E2K and Green Club
• Prepare and distribute Teaching & Learning resources e.g. desk copies etc. to Science teachers at the beginning of the school year and collect the materials from teachers at the end of the year.
• Safe storage, usage & proper records of chemicals used in the lab.
• Preferably the lab assistant is certified in First Aid / CPR / AED.

The personnel shall minimally have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

• A minimum of 3 years of company experience in handling manpower services, working in an educational institution providing Science lab assistance.
• An equivalent combination of education and work with a minimum GCE ‘O’ level academic qualification.
• Able to work independently AND has work experience of at least 3 years with Primary school children, age 8- 12 as a Science lab assistance

Main duty:

1. To assist the art dept with acquisition of materials (receiving, DO processing of purchases, sorting and keeping purchases) as well as do paperwork for condemnation of obsolete or damaged items, carry out disposal
2. To manage maintenance and upkeep of Art rooms and resources in the Art Block (6 Art rooms and Kiln room, Woodwork room, darkroom and other related areas, including art materials and assets. E.g, Drill press, Bend Saw, 3D printers)
3. To supervise students at work when no teaching staff is around, invigilate tests and internal exams when called upon for assistance.
4. To provide support in managing the attendance of Sec 1-4 AEP Centre students and communicate with sending schools and parents on results and other admin matters
5. To oversee security of the art rooms by monitoring CCTV data, locking up rooms at 6pm.
6. To provide support and logistical assistance for department and students’ participation (Eg SYF Art Festival) and organisation of art exhibitions (Eg in 2025, Art Festival)

4. Candidate with prior working experience in schools (at least in the last 2 consecutive years), directly with students.

Requirements
