JOB DESCRIPTION
Lead and drive the development of ocean and coastal modelling capabilities, including:
· Development of high-resolution coastal models for the regional and local waters using DELFT3D-FM/MIKE; and/or
· Development of high-resolution ocean circulation models for the regional waters using NEMO;
· Development of relevant tools, techniques, and methodologies, such as data assimilation, data-driven models and Bayesian networks.
· Working as senior member of research teams carrying out projects related to the development of models for forecasting and prediction of the metocean environment.
· Lead and undertake management of project tasks and produce the deliverables within the agreed parameters in an appropriate format, to ensure that relevant project tasks are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
· Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track project progress and performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals.
· Develop leadership skills, and to take responsibility to review other colleagues? work as requested.
· Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with other staff members.
· Create and maintain comprehensive project documentations.
· Report and escalate to management as needed.
· Contribute to the proposals for new grants and projects by accurately estimating time requirements and developing scopes of work.
· Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
· Actively seeking to ensure satisfaction of collaborators and stakeholders and to generate new opportunities for TCOMS.
· Attend training as required to maintain proficiency.
· Any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
· PhD in Oceanography, Ocean Engineering, Coastal Engineering or other related discipline.
· At least 3 Years of experience
· Working knowledge of oceanography, ocean modelling and hydrodynamics.
· Experience in using DELFT3D-FM and other open-source models for coastal modelling.
· Experience in using NEMO and other open-source models for ocean circulation modelling.
· Knowledge in sensing, data analytics, machine learning will be an advantage.
· Good interpersonal and communication skills.
· Ability to adapt and work effectively as a member of a team.
· Resourceful and self-driven with high degree of professional integrity.
· Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
