Job Description:*
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced LSA/FFA (Life-Saving Appliances/Fire-Fighting Appliances) Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in the installation, troubleshooting, and annual maintenance of liferafts, lifeboats, and fire-fighting equipment. A strong understanding of class regulations and SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) requirements is essential for success in this role.
*Responsibilities:*
Install, inspect, maintain, and repair various life-saving appliances (LSA) and fire-fighting appliances (FFA) aboard vessels, ensuring compliance with class regulations and SOLAS requirements.
Conduct routine inspections and testing of liferafts, lifeboats, fire extinguishers, fire hoses, and other firefighting equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and regulatory standards.
Perform troubleshooting and diagnosis of equipment malfunctions, identifying and resolving technical issues promptly and effectively.
Conduct annual maintenance and certification of LSA/FFA equipment, adhering to industry best practices and safety protocols.
Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs, maintaining detailed documentation for regulatory compliance purposes.
Collaborate with ship crews, marine engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the safe and reliable operation of life-saving and fire-fighting systems onboard vessels.
Stay updated on the latest industry developments, regulations, and technologies related to LSA/FFA equipment, participating in training programs and workshops as necessary.
*Qualifications:*
Minimum of 4 years of experience as an LSA/FFA Technician or similar role in the maritime industry.
Proficient understanding of class regulations, SOLAS requirements, and other relevant maritime standards.
Strong technical skills with hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of liferafts, lifeboats, fire extinguishers, and related equipment.
Excellent troubleshooting abilities, with the capacity to diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions efficiently.
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance with safety standards and procedures.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
Flexibility to work in challenging maritime environments and willingness to travel as needed.
Relevant certifications or training in LSA/FFA maintenance and inspection preferred.
