This is a contract role till December 2024
Primary Responsibility:
To support the quality of teaching and learning for students with learning needs in mainstream classes and/
or during withdrawal lessons and to provide high quality support for these students.
Key Accountabilities:
â—Ź Identification/ monitor and review of students with Additional Needs
â—Ź In-Class/Small Group or withdrawal Support of targeted students with Additional Needs
â—Ź Collaboration with staff across the school.
â—Ź Assist Head of department to organise, and manage appropriate learning environment and resources
â—Ź Attend relevant meetings as required by Head Of Department.
Key Tasks:
â—Ź Design, implement and evaluate strategies to support the learning of students with additional needs.
â—Ź Oversee appropriate LDD provision for students with additional learning needs.
â—Ź Review LDD in-class provision and level of need on a regular basis in liaison with the HOD
● Contribute to the LDD’s termly review of additional needs registers and provision.
â—Ź Identify students who require learning support through:
- Analysis of Year 6 records
- Past records and reports
- Analysis of new enrollment entrance testing and recorders
- Additional diagnostic tests
- Referral process
- Monitoring of available data
● Contribute to the writing and reviewing of Individual Student Plans( ISP’s) for LDD students twice yearly
â—Ź Monitor and evaluate the academic progress of LDD students on the registers
â—Ź Assist the HOD to organise appropriate provision for LDD students in their completion of internal/
external examinations and work with the Exams Officer to implement this
● Inform class teachers/pastoral team of issues relating to LDD students’ learning and well-being
â—Ź Where appropriate liaise with parents/guardians and outside agencies to support LDD students
â—Ź Promote, plan and deliver Study Skills assistance/support to help the development of executive
functioning in areas of
- General Organisation
- Effective Study/Revision
- Time Management
- Research Skills
â—Ź Inform HOD of any concerns which require parental attention
â—Ź Support the HOD to develop a greater understanding and advocacy for inclusion and neurodiversity, raising
achievements among all students
â—Ź If applicable, assist with psychometric assessments.
â—Ź Keep abreast of developments and initiatives in the area of neurodiversity , additional needs and Inclusion
â—Ź Share relevant training relating to inclusion with all colleagues

â—Ź Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance
â—Ź Attend and participate in open evenings and student performances
â—Ź Participate in staff training and annual performance review
â—Ź Attend team and staff meetings
Additional information
â—Ź A background in delivering/assisting with the delivery Maths and Science based curriculums and subjects
would be advantageous.

This is essentially a generic Job Specification for Subject Teachers; all teachers at SJI International are also
expected to contribute significantly to the service, sport and activity programmes, to accompany school
trips and expeditions and to play a full part in the continued development of a thriving school community.
