Knowledge and Skills

a. Hands-on experience in at least 1 full project development life cycles

You have passion to support the recovery of children and pre-teens who have experienced abuse, neglect and/or family violence. You will work with child protection caseworkers, families and a clinical supervisor within a multi-disciplinary setting to provide play therapy services to these children between 3 to 12 years old.

Responsibilities:

• Provide play therapy for children and pre-teens presenting with behavioural and emotional difficulties due to attachment injury, trauma, losses, adjustment.
• Work with caregivers to equip them with knowledge and skills to support children coping with emotional stress or trauma, to encourage and support them to provide a safe and nurturing environment for their children.
• Conduct parent-child sessions to enhance recovery.
• Maintain play therapy rooms and materials.
• Document therapy sessions, progress, reviews and provide regular updates to caseworkers.

Requirements:

• Have minimally one year of experience working with vulnerable children and families, including play therapy services.
