In this role, the individual will work with the Head of Oasis BRMC Mission in providing leadership, cultivating and nurturing the spiritual growth of the Chinese ministry, and giving pastoral care, and engage in other functions as delegated by the Head of Ministry, including but not limited to worship, Sunday School, small groups, fellowship, social concerns, and outreach.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Chinese Worship Service:

• Plan and lead the congregation in weekly Chinese Sunday service
• Plan the pulpit schedule and invitations
• Preach sermons at least once a month
• Plan the Chinese worship roster
• Arrange for special events or occasions which take place during/after worship
• Provide help in translation of liturgy (from English to Mandarin) for bilingual combined Sunday Service, which happens once a month or on special occasions

Prayer Ministry:

• Prepare a devotion to share and lead the Chinese prayer group at the weekly church prayer meeting.
• Translate prayer needs from English to Mandarin for dissemination to those in the Chinese Ministry

Counselling and Pastoral Care:

• Provide counselling support to the Chinese congregation where needed (in the areas of elderly, marital, family and individual)
• Make referrals to professional counsellors and/or social workers from Oasis community partners where necessary

Equipping and Development:

• Development, nurturing and cultivation of the Chinese Ministry
• Training of Chinese leaders
• Development of Sunday School classes and other bible study groups

Other Duties as Requested:

• Formulate the theme/goals of the Chinese Ministry for the whole year (aligned to the general direction of Oasis)
• Outreach
• Social concerns to the local community
• Conduct Baptism and Membership Courses for Chinese worshippers where needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Theological Degree or Masters (preferred)
• Desirable to have: Local Preacher License, Post-Graduate in areas of Theology, Divinity, Christian Ministry, Elderly Pastoral Ministry, or other closely related fields, and Degree or certificate or experience in counselling.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND SKILLSETS:

• 3 years of related ministry experience with Chinese-speaking congregations and/or elderly ministries
• Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff
• An innovative team player, self-motivated and pro-active

• Customer service according to procedures and standards
• Assist and ensure a smooth daily service operation (opening and closing of outlet, taking orders, table setting, cleaning outlet etc.)
• Ensure that all pre-opening duties are completed on daily basis
• Basic cashiering duties
• Provide service according to procedures and standards established by the F&B department
• Handle the beverages
• Familiar with all items on the menu and have knowledge of all recipes, drink lists, wine lists and methods of preparation and preparation time
• Recommend and promote all items on the menu or specials to guests
• Take daily inventory including for bar and report any loss or damage
• Handle guest complaints and feedback effectively and communicate to the immediate supervisor for follow-up
• Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene, appearance and deportment at all times
• Clean up section area after service and maintain cleanliness of the area
• Coordinate with the stewards, kitchen staff and bar staff to ensure smooth operation and guest satisfaction
• Help other areas of the restaurant such as answering telephones and completing financial transactions
• Maintain the table culture and restaurant ambience at all times
• Perform other related duties as required by outlet manager

Requirements:

• Prior F&B Experience preferred
• Able to start work at short notice

What you’ll do

• Reports directly to and communicates with the Head of Group on all administrative matters.
• Plan, schedule and meetings, including travel arrangement (flight, accommodation, Visa etc.), reservations and set up for owner/leadership team.
• Support schedule, coordinate appointments for the owner/leadership team and assist in all meeting preparation which includes setting up conference calls across different time-zones.
• Preparation of expense reports, forms and communications for office financial reports and invoicing.
• Works closely and effectively with the key senior leadership and support on ad-hoc tasks.
• Any other ad-hoc tasks assigned from time to time.
