New Curriculum

NTU is transforming its education objectives towards more interdisciplinarity and collaborative learning for the foundation years of its undergraduate curriculum. A new interdisciplinary and collaborative curriculum was introduced in the academic year of 2021 to develop students’ cognitive agility, competence, and character, besides their disciplinary major. This new curriculum consists of a set of 7 core courses which will form part of the overall degree requirement in all NTU undergraduate programmes. The courses will be concentrated over the first two years of study comprising mixed classes of students from different disciplinary programmes, so that they can embrace multidisciplinary group learning as part of the overall academic expectation from the start of their university education. Students will collaborate in different teams for their course projects or assignments.

Content for the 7 common core courses is developed by a diverse mix of faculty and integrated to understand issues from various perspectives. The successful candidate will be involved in research and teaching in the Division of Marketing. The University expects the candidate to be:

Responsibilities:

• Prepare Engineering Document (Technical Specification, Calculation, drawings, etc) in the development of new designs and products.
• Generate new drawings and drawing changes including parts lists and Change Orders.
• Perform impact analysis on the arrangement and drawings.
• Plan and organise relevant design changes in cooperation with Ship Design Authority.
• Study/analyse/investigate/develop the design. Prepare technical documentation/guidelines for the work to be performed, according to established formats from the technical database, stipulated budget, time schedule and quality standards.
• Conduct Testing and validate technical interfaces for the work performed, according to established test procedures from the technical database.
• Liaise with ship-owners and Ship Design Authority to obtain approval on engineering deliverables.
• Manage the design schedule and ensure that design is carried out according to contract and regulations.

Requirements:

• At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• At least 1-2 years experience in engineering design and/or Classifications Societies and/or Naval Engineering Officer.
• Strong knowledge of international design codes, Classification/Statutory Rules and Regulations.
• Keep abreast with Naval Classifications Rules, Military and Industrial Standards relevant to design activities.
