Job Description:

Business Development

• In conjunction with Head of Coverage – Singapore (overseeing SEA portfolio) work closely to formulate and implement FAB’s strategic plan for Mid-Tier Corporates, bearing in mind the laws, rules and regulations of Indonesia and SEA region.
• Help in the identification of potential client relationships
• Help interactions with clients and strengthen our relationships with Mid Tier Corporates & SEA companies
• Ensure that the Bank is in possession of all required facility documents duly executed by the client.
• Initiate KYC process and review the Account on a periodic basis in supporting their business offshore.
• Initiate prospects and assess opportunities for an assigned portfolio of corporate (but not limited to) relationship and new clients. (for offshore business only)
• Work closely with Representative Offices, Branches and Head Office to generate business leads for offshore business.

Internal Collaboration

• Develop a close working relationship with all departments/ sub-departments including Product partners (Debt Capital Markets, Global Transaction Services, Islamic Banking, Corporate Finance, Private Banking and Treasury & Global Markets) and Credit in order to contribute to overall business development within the SEA Region.

Client and Market Analysis

• Conduct analysis on clients’ financial health and needs as well as their industries/ markets on regular basis

Credit Process

Collect credit request and documents from the clients for our offshore business. Conduct analysis on clients’ financial health and needs as well as their industries/ markets on regular basis

Credit Approval

· Collect credit request and documents from the clients and conduct initial analysis, acquiring and evaluating new accounts, structuring credit facilities, performing credit assessment of financial statements, cash flow projections, periodic credit reviews of the existing accounts and loan documentations.

· Prepare credit memoranda and other information relevant for the credit application package of new credit applications, annual reviews and ad-hoc applications.

· Ensure the quality of the credit portfolio is maintained by reviewing proposals and identifying and assessing all risks inherent in credit exposures.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account ‘international leading practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

• Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

MIS and Reports

• Prepare reports in a timely and accurate manner to meet the department’s and requirements, policies and standards.
• Conduct site visits, where necessary and followed with Call reports.

Negotiate and secure long-term charter contracts with reputable clients, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.

Monitor market trends and assess charter rates to make informed decisions on chartering strategies.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and other stakeholders in the shipping industry.

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferably a Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or related field.

Proven experience as a Chartering Manager in the dry bulk shipping industry in the global region, preferably having had a specific focus on tonnage.

Strong understanding of the dry bulk shipping market, including vessel types, cargo types, and trade routes.

Demonstrated ability to negotiate and secure long-term charter contracts with a track record of successful outcomes.

Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and make informed decisions.

Daily Operation

• Responsible for implementing and maintaining a safe, cost efficient and environmentally sound operation standard in compliance with OSM Thome as well as International Marine regulations for a given number of vessels.
• To manage the daily operation of the number of vessels assigned to him in accordance with OSM Thome & Best Practice.
• Advise Masters/Chief Engineers and Ship Staff on

§ Cargo & tank/hold

§ Port operations

§ Anchoring & mooring operations

§ Technical/Engine room operations

§ Port, passage & war information, insurance coverage for all vessels

• Follow up the on-board maintenance system, monitor the status and act on overdue items.
• Evaluate and monitor the required reporting from the vessels, act as required and inform other office sections and external bodies as is relevant.
• Follow up class and statutory certification status, condition of class and arrange for the necessary surveys and inspections (flag state, certification for Panama Canal etc.)
• Liaise with Principals regarding Vessel safe operations.

Shipboard Inspections

• Visit vessels regularly (at least three times a year, including a short sailing visit). On each visit, a Superintendent Visit Report, is to be completed and left onboard. Following inspections needs to be conducted during these inspections

• Monitor the requisitions generated from the vessel to ensure that they are submitted in a timely manner. Follow up with the Purchasing Department for delivery of ordered items on board.
• Approve invoices for payment.
• Liaise with the Insurance Manager (or Principals) in H&M claims handling. Provide technical input, and cost information, if required, for P&I claims (cargo and crew) and H&M claims.

Crewing

• Make performance evaluations of Masters/ Chief Engineers assigned to the vessel under supervision.
• Provide input to the Manning Department on recruitment of Senior Officers for the assigned vessels.

Dry Docking & Repairs

• Plan, manage, monitor and execute vessels repairs, dry dockings and conversions within agreed budgets.
• Arrange and follow up repairs and services.
• Coordinate with the assigned vessels and prepare the dry-docking specification in conjunction with Docking Superintendent, Fleet Services. Submit the specification to yards for quotations, evaluate the received quotations and present them to the Fleet Group Manager and/or Chief Operating Officer for review.
• Attend the dry-docking, discuss shipyard invoicing before presenting same to the Fleet Group Manager and/or Chief Operating Officer for approval.
• Prepare docking report.
