The Business Development Manager is a key contributor to business activities relating to Sales within the stated geographical region. The role will primarily involve hunting, winning, and acquiring new business and customers for the organisation, lead the engagement and grow assigned customers, lead, and prepare customer quotations and proposals, increase the organization's revenue, volumes and gross profit, execute business development strategies and tactics, and assist management and leadership in the formulation of sales planning, tactics and strategies when required.

Primary Functions

• Hunt, win and acquire new business and customers for the organization (Note that this is a pure hunting role)

• Lead the engagement and grow assigned customers in country

• Maintain positive and close relationships with all assigned customers

• Lead and prepare customer quotations and proposals

• Meet targets and/or increase the organization's revenue, volumes, and gross profit

• Execute business development strategies and tactics

• Assist management and leadership in the formulation of sales planning, tactics and strategies when required.

• Interact with local and regional product teams (including Air, Ocean, and others) on securing the best rates in the market for customer proposal purposes.

• Manage and analyze the performance of owned customers, identify the need for action and execute these actions

• Support and/or enable the growth of assigned accounts regionally or globally if required.

Secondary Functions

• Work collaboratively with leadership & related stakeholders to implement new & existing sales initiatives.

• Work on tenders/RFQs/Bids if required

• Positive internal stakeholder relationship management - Tech, Product, CS, Operations & others

• Contribute ideas on process improvements & implementation of related improvements.

• Internal stakeholder management

• Execute and manage all other jobs as assigned by immediate and dotted line superiors.

Job Requirements:

• Degree level or equivalent

• Min. 5 years in a customer facing role in freight forwarding, shipping line, air cargo, logistics, supply chain or similar industries, in the roles of business development, sales, commercial, operations or customer service.

• Pure hunting role. Working knowledge of freight forwarding and/or logistics related operations and selling process is a MUST.

• Experienced as Air freight hunter role

Job Responsibilities:

As an Key Account Manager, you will be providing customers with solutions tailored to their requirements using your experience and technical knowledge to respond to enquiries and request for quotations.

The opportunity involves a mix of managing the current businesses and generate new clients. Involve mainly in the communication skills, relationship building skills, entrepreneurship, influencing and analytical abilities shaping the growth of all existing and new

businesses.

• Actively be the key figure for driving revenue and margin growth within accounts, meeting and exceeding all business measures such as EBIT and working capital.
• Own, monitor and drive customer’s service agreements to meet and exceed contractual performance KPIs such as cost savings obligations.
• Accountable for the smooth daily operations and updated selling prices.
• Drives margin improvement projects and commercial outcomes for existing customer raccounts.
• Monitor programmes, analyse data and trends, hold regular service performance and business reviews, and initiate improvements for the customer accounts.

Requirements:

• Preferably possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related discipline
• Proven track record of key account management, providing outstanding supply chain consultation and customer service to customers
• Ability to think strategically and communicate effectively with all levels of management
• Ability to manage ambiguity and apply problem-solving skills
• Ability to influence across teams, creating ef fective internal business partnerships
• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and work effectively under deadlines
• Understanding of f inancial concepts such as EBIT and working capital will be an added advantage
