The position deals primarily with the day-to-day organisation, management and technical issues associated with the instrument and electrical equipment, resource and infrastructure on a 120,000 tonnes per annum continuous petrochemical plant. Heading a small team of maintenance and engineering resource, the successful candidate shall be responsible for troubleshooting, root cause analysis and determining corrective/repair actions for both instrument and electrical equipment in order to maintain production. As appropriate, the role would also undertake responsibilities for the performance and maintenance of the basic plant controls systems of DCS, safety instrumented systems (SIS), fire & gas system (F&G), SCADA, plant information systems.
He / She shall also be involved in long term maintenance, inspection and modification activities, utilising PPM strategies, maintenance cost improvement programs, personnel development and adherence to Statutory/Company/local/International Standards. This role also has supervisory and management responsibilities (administration and leadership) towards the crew of I/E technicians and contractors he oversees.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of electrical & instrument equipment, safety instrumented systems and lead the implementation of SHE programs to meet local and corporate requirements.
- Provide training, guidance and development to I/E technicians and contractors to improve SHE & functional knowledge and performance
- Review plant I/E equipment performance with studies in RCM and RCA, recommend cost effective and long-term corrective actions to address chronic I/E equipment problems to improve plant I/E equipment reliability with reduced maintenance cost
- Provide troubleshooting expertise and organizational skills to resolve instrument and electrical problems as they arise. Work with cross functional teams to resolve plant issues and problems where required.
- Act as PPM owner for I/E aspects of work, period review all I/E PPM on their effectiveness and ensure system is up-to-date, and ensure all I/E on-site PPM work is executed as per planned and in spec
- Periodically review the I/E term contracts with MIV and MEV providers to ensure safety and optimal efficiency of these revenue contracts
- Provide IE expertise and support to the site’s projects and modifications work
Requirements:
- Degree in Instrument or Electrical engineering from a recognized tertiary institution
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering and maintenance experience in the related industry (chemicals preferable)
- Familiar with operations and maintenance of basic plant control systems in DCS, safety instrumented systems, fire & gas alarm system and SCADA system, familiar with Emerson and ABB equipment and systems would be an advantage
- Maintenance and troubleshooting experience with good analytic skills in the I/E field in Chemical Plant
- Good understanding of International and local I/E standards for maintenance, design, installation, inspection and repair
- Possess good understanding SHE knowledge in process, maintenance work, equipment and tool safety
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, interacting effectively with all levels in the organization as well as with contractors
