The Global MSAT team will support the Biologics Operations strategy, in particular regarding customer centricity, providing harmonized deployed services and more consistency in execution. It will also support the new technology introduction that we forecast in the coming years, with accelerated timelines. Internally, this team will have a close interface with R&D and Group Operations for early alignment, priority setting, planning and execution of our global improvement agenda. This senior scientific role will be part of a Global MSAT Biologics team and will be responsible for providing technical leadership and know-how directly with cross functional teams across the Lonza Biologics operations network on a day to day basis, supporting Global project implementation to the sites and ensuring all project time lines and objectives are consistently monitored and delivered. The role will focus in areas of strategic material harmonization, new technology introduction, continuous process improvement and cross site process tech transfer, working closely with network site functional teams.
Key responsibilities:
- Responsible to oversee implementation of harmonization projects into the Global network sites, developing deployment plans cross functionally and supporting the on-site teams during all phases of transfer to meet business targets (as required)
- Responsible as a point of contact for support and resolving critical network technical problems (as required), working cross functionally across sites to maintain internal and external customer project outcomes e.g. Global QA Alerts.
- Responsible to provide daily technical coaching and mentoring to members of the Global and site MSAT teams with specific technical problem resolution and improve operational execution. Supports the training and knowledge transfer to improve overall expertise and capability of the Global MSAT network.
- Accountable to maintain and establish a professional internal and external network to maintain technical and compliance knowledge and know how consistent with the role objectives and team development.
Key requirements:
- PhD or equivalent means of demonstrating ability with considerable experience in industry and/or a relevant biologics development or manufacturing environment
- Has demonstrated extensive knowledge in field of expertise either from process development or a cGMP manufacturing operations background and on-the job training, working as either as an individual contributor or in a management supervisory role.
- Recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) in field of relevance e.g. biologics process development or from working in a cGMP MSAT environment. Ability to technically understand complex non routine unit operations with a proven track record of successful technical transfer expertise.
- Has experience leading implementation / harmonization projects involving cross-functional, multi-site teams.
- Has a deep understanding of manufacturing science and process as a whole and also Lonza’s business practices and customer expectations.
- Experience of material qualification and specification setting is desirable.
- A role model in demonstrated interpersonal skills with ability to work with others in a technical coaching capacity.
- Works well with both internal and external customers in problem resolution. Experience in leading cross functional project activities with ability to multi task, prioritize and be an effective decision maker.
- Proven problem solver has an excellent technical attention to detail, communication skills both written and verbal, interpersonal qualities with a continuous improvement positive mind set.
- Proven experience working with external and/or internal customer peers on technical planning, design and execution of technical scopes of work, showing resilience and tenacity to deliver on time against goals and objectives
