About Our Client
Our client is a well-known player within the Food & Beverage Distribution space. They specialise in a diverse range of food products, including chilled and frozen meats, cheeses, seafood, and dry goods. The company sources high-quality products from reputable producers worldwide, and provide an extensive product offerings to both individual consumers and businesses in Singapore.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Managing Director, they are currently seeking an experienced Head of Procurement to lead the sourcing activities and optimize the procurement function.
You will be responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost savings across various direct food categories. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership abilities and a proven track record within the Food Industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sourcing and Category Management: Develop and implement comprehensive multi-year procurement strategies for direct spend categories, including but not limited to Frozen Food, Frozen Meat, Frozen Poultry, Dairy, Butter, Cheeses, Dry Food, Seafood, Fine Food etc
- Tactical Procurement Process Management: You will spearhead and manage the end-to-end procurement process including the tactical buying process
- Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring optimal performance, cost-effectiveness, and risk mitigation.
- Cost Optimization: Identify and drive cost-saving initiatives, negotiate favorable terms, and manage procurement budgets effectively.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with internal stakeholders to understand business needs, align procurement strategies, and ensure seamless execution of procurement activities.
- Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to stay abreast of industry trends, emerging suppliers, and best practices in indirect procurement.
- Contract Management: Oversee contract negotiations, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements while securing the best value for the organization.
- Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of procurement activities and drive continuous improvement.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of procurement professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation.
Candidate Profile
Our ideal candidate will be one who has most of the below criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field;
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in direct procurement, with a proven track record of managing complex procurement functions and achieving cost savings.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite
