This is a one-year contractual position offered in connection to CIL's expansion of its programme on international economic law and policy. Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute, NTU is looking for a Research Fellow with expertise in chemical reactors to develop an improved prototype for a thermocatalytic process.

The project is funded by National Environment Agency, Singapore to address one of the largest problems in waste management – the problem of plastic waste pollution. A significant fraction of plastic waste has substandard quality for mechanical and chemical recycling even after sorting and cleaning. The Research Fellow will work on the design, fabrication and testing of a chemical reactor system that will use pyrolysis-chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technology for converting these plastic waste streams (specifically, contaminated and rejected plastics) into multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and hydrogen. The role of Research Fellow is to design a system prototype that can effectively mitigate the impact of impurities from diverse plastic waste streams on production outputs and can be operated in a continuous mode.

Key Responsibilities:

The candidate will be undertaking full research work and administrative duties during the term of employment within the following areas:

• Experimental work on plastic waste conversion into carbon nanotubes and hydrogen.
• Design, procurement, installation and operation of the prototype system;

The Laboratory for RNA Delivery Therapeutics @ NTU

The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineeri​ng and Biotechnology (CCEB) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow in Prof Mary Chan-Park team. Prof Mary Chan-Park and her team have recently won a highly competitive large grant on the design, synthesis and studies of the improved RNA delivery vehicles.

Prof Mary Chan-Park is currently the Centre Director of the Centre for RNA Delivery Therapeutics. She is also the current President Chair Professor of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (2024 onwards) and the 2019 Board of Trustees Chaired Professor of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering (2019-2024), both at the Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU Singapore). She also holds a joint appointment at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at NTU. She is the Director of the Centre for Antimicrobial Bioengineering and the Director of the NTU Laboratory for RNA Delivery Therapeutics. She is a Fellow of the America Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering.

The Research Fellow will take on a significant role to develop stimuli-responsive nanoparticle formulations. New alternative delivery vehicles for the promising RNA nanomedicine are urgently needed to replace the current ones to achieve great delivery efficacy with less side effects. We have shown that some polymeric or lipid nanoparticles are excellent candidates as delivery agents.

The NeuroPhenomics Lab is dedicated to the profound exploration of brain tumor biology, focusing particularly on key driver mutations like IDH1 and IDH2. These mutations significantly contribute to the development of aggressive malignant gliomas by altering chromatin structure and genome methylation, thus influencing tumor evolution. The ADJ Laboratory at Cancer Science Institute, focuses on understanding the immune system's recognition of cancer cells after DNA-damaging chemotherapy. The lab’s goal is to guide the rational design of immunotherapy-chemotherapy combinations for cancer treatment, with a particular emphasis on lymphomas and collaborations with the NUH Lymphoma team.
