Prof Mary Chan-Park and her team have recently won a highly competitive large grant on the design, synthesis and studies of the improved RNA delivery vehicles.

Prof Mary Chan-Park is currently the Centre Director of the Centre for RNA Delivery Therapeutics. She is also the current President Chair Professor of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (2024 onwards) and the 2019 Board of Trustees Chaired Professor of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering (2019-2024), both at the Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU Singapore). She also holds a joint appointment at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at NTU. She is the Director of the Centre for Antimicrobial Bioengineering and the Director of the NTU Laboratory for RNA Delivery Therapeutics. She is a Fellow of the America Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering.

The Research Fellow will take on a significant role to design and synthesize new lipids or polymers that are stimuli-responsive and suitable for nanoparticle delivery formulations. New alternative delivery vehicles for the promising RNA nanomedicine are urgently needed to replace the current ones to achieve great delivery efficacy with less side effects. We have shown that some polymeric or lipid nanoparticles are excellent candidates as delivery agents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and synthesize novel stimuli-responsive lipids or polymers for RNA delivery formulations to achieve efficient transfection and endosomal escape.
• Develop cationic or ionizable lipids or polymers for RNA delivery applications.
• Collaborate with team members to formulate lipids/polymers with RNA for transfection experiments.
• Measure and evaluate transfection efficiency, endosomal escape efficiency, and other particle properties.

Job Requirements:

• PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in lipid/polymer synthesis and design for stimuli-responsive nanoparticle delivery, particularly RNA delivery formulations.
• Familiarity with advanced lipid/polymer design for RNA delivery and nanoparticle formulations (e.g., classical LNPs and top research groups).

You will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and research study team members in the development and validation of a new psychometric instrument aimed at measuring multimorbidity within a primary healthcare setting. This instrument will be integral to facilitating better patient care and informing primary healthcare interventions and policies.

• Collaborate and assist in the design and development of a new robust psychometric instrument, or the validation of an existing one, for measuring multimorbidity.
• Collaborate with study investigators to define key constructs and dimensions of multimorbidity.

Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute, NTU is looking for a Research Fellow with expertise in chemical reactors to develop an improved prototype for a thermocatalytic process.

The project is funded by National Environment Agency, Singapore to address one of the largest problems in waste management – the problem of plastic waste pollution. A significant fraction of plastic waste has substandard quality for mechanical and chemical recycling even after sorting and cleaning. The Research Fellow will work on the design, fabrication and testing of a chemical reactor system that will use pyrolysis-chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technology for converting these plastic waste streams (specifically, contaminated and rejected plastics) into multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and hydrogen. The role of Research Fellow is to design a system prototype that can effectively mitigate the impact of impurities from diverse plastic waste streams on production outputs and can be operated in a continuous mode.

Key Responsibilities:

The candidate will be undertaking full research work and administrative duties during the term of employment within the following areas:

• Experimental work on plastic waste conversion into carbon nanotubes and hydrogen.
• Design, procurement, installation and operation of the prototype system;
• Investigation of system performance and determining factors that influence the yield and quality of outputs;
