DUTIES

• Subject to the standard NUS terms as to annual leave, appointed candidates will be expected to be in residence throughout the term of their appointments.
• An appointee will be expected to develop a research agenda related to or adjacent to one of the above themes, including undertaking substantial research projects leading to publication during the term of the appointment. Such research may include, but is not limited to, the writing of articles for publication in refereed journals, contributing to book chapters in edited collections, and preparing a monograph or other book for publication.
• An appointee will also be expected to assist in other CALS research projects and initiatives as assigned by the Centre Director.

REQUIREMENTS

1. An ideal candidate would be of exceptional calibre, have attained a Masters degree in a relevant area of law.

For appointment as a Research Associate, the successful applicant must hold at least a Master’s degree with at least 2 years’ relevant work experience, and good knowledge, skills and expertise in Asian legal studies.

2. The principal selection criterion will be the applicant’s potential for excellence in research. Existing research work in CALS-related areas will be considered favourably. The applicant should submit a research plan proposal for consideration.

3. The candidate should be exceptionally organized and have an eye for detail. In addition to scholarship, which is a high priority for the position, there will also be administrative responsibilities related to the work of the centre. A strong command of English is required.

An experimental Postdoctoral Researcher Position in the group of Dr Ahmet Avsar at Material Science and Engineering Department of National University of Singapore is available to develop novel spintronics devices based on magnetic topological insulators.

The research involves advanced nanofabrication in state-of-the-art research facilities, and magneto-transport measurements utilizing low-temperature cryostats. It also includes data analysis, physical interpretation of the results and writing research articles. More specifically, spin surfaces of magnetic topological insulators will be probed and novel spintronics devices based on these intrinsic magnetic topological insulators will be developed. While the researcher will have the opportunity to start her/his experiments immediately, she/he is also expected to contribute into building our newly established laboratory.
