The lab of RNA in Disease and Translational Technologies at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, A*STAR, Singapore is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Scientist or Senior Scientist to join a team developing a ribozyme-based RNA platform for potential translational and/or clinical applications.

The work will involve both in vitro and in vivo techniques, including molecular biology (RNA design, in vitro transcription, cell-free RNA assays, RT-qPCR, molecular cloning), cell biology (cell culture, cell transfection, flow cytometry, antisense oligonucleotides and RNAi, CRISPR), high-resolution imaging techniques, and experiments in mouse models (e.g. transgenesis, in situ hybridization and immunohistochemistry, imaging and functional analyses)

Requirements

• Minimum Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Neuroscience or a related discipline.
• The successful candidate should have strong expertise in RNA biology, cell biology, biochemistry and molecular biology techniques, a strong publication record that includes a first author research paper, and strong scientific writing skills.
• They should be creative, highly motivated, conscientious and be able to work independently, with good organisational, verbal and interpersonal skills. Our lab is collaborative and interdisciplinary, and the successful candidate should be able to work effectively and harmoniously in a diverse team.

A Research fellow position is available in Dr. Anand Andiappan Laboratory at the Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN). The successful candidate will support the research work that focuses on studying inflammaeing in the context of skin aging in Asian populations.

The candidate will work on primary cells from cohorts and cell culture systems towards understanding functional immune responses in skin immune interactions and recapitulating them in in-vitro and ex-vivo systems. Additional work involves cellular and stimulation assays with flow cytometry and FACS analysis along with imaging by microscopy, and associated data analysis with statistical tested.

Duties will include managing safety in the laboratory, creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and laboratory risk assessments, maintaining laboratory inventories, perform other laboratory administrative duties and operations such as ordering and tracking laboratory budget.

Job Requirements:

• PhD Degree in Skin Immunology, Life sciences, Biomedical sciences, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or equivalent
• Preferably with at least 5 years experience in dermatology, immunology, molecular allergy and clinical immunology

The funded project will aim to characterize and compare host-alphavirus interactions at the immune response level in vivo in animal models through a novel viral-centric approach. Preliminary data of the lab has shown a differential adaptive immune response polarization between two alphaviruses and identified, via in vivo comparative multiOmic approaches, a set of candidate host factors potentially responsible for the phenotype. The project will entail a close characterization of these host factors and their role in the viral life cycle as well as the modulation of the immune response of small animal model to these viruses. In addition to multi-Omics approaches (including single-cell and spatial), protein-protein interactions, microscopy, functional genomics, viral reverse genetics and CRISPR Cas9 gene editing will be some of the tools used to investigate this viral hijacking and understand the host-viral interplay. Animals models available in the lab include mice and zebrafish. Downstream of characterization will aim to validate these targets in small preclinical models for subsequent drug discovery in the A*STAR ecosystem. Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for research fellow in the Department of Biochemistry, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Yu lab has been established since 2021 and the major mission is to develop new therapeutic strategies for atherosclerotic coronary artery disease and metabolic diseases. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to perform modelling and real-time simulation of electric vessel’s onboard microgrid and propulsion system.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to develop onboard microgrid simulation models with energy management systems as well as to plan and test the relevant hardware systems.
• Work with research team to deliver the work scope and undertake these responsibilities in the project.
  Work Responsibilities:
  1. Develop detailed electrical models of the microgrid (power system) of various e-vessels based on the concept design in a simulation environment such as Matlab/Simulink.
  2. Design and develop an intelligent energy management system for the e-vessel microgrid for coordinated control of multiple energy sources considering cost, carbon, and operation constraints.
  3. Operate the simulated electrical model with EMS controller to perform simulations for various cases to demonstrate performance and recommend improvements at unit, sub-system and whole system level.
  4. Implement and carry out simulation studies for onboard microgrid and connection to shore charging infrastructure.
• Recommend efficient and reliable power system architecture(s) with other merits of high-density and light-weight.
• Test the relevant power electronics and drives system hardware and troubleshoot the challenging problems.
• Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
• Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers.
• Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment and assist in laboratory management.

Job Requirements

• Have a Master’s or PhD’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized University. Major in Power Engineering will be advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in modelling and energy management algorithm development using MATLAB/Simulink for microgrid applications.
• Knowledge of power electronics, drives, and control is highly preferred. Hardware testing experience will be advantageous.
