As a Client Service Associate (CSA) at Western Asset, you will contribute to our mission of not only delivering the best investment performance, but also the best service to our clients while maintaining the highest standards of ethics. The position works closely with business development and client relationship management staff, Client Service Executives (CSEs), to market to and service clients based in Asia (Ex-Japan). This includes answering general client inquiries, prepare client presentations, coordinate account opening, closing and maintenance processes, prepare Requests-for-Proposals, research information on prospective clients, support general business development efforts etc. You’ll learn our business from the ground up by working closely with every department at the organization including Marketing, Product Management, Investment Management, Legal and Operations. You will play a key role in client relationships and departmental initiatives.

What you will do

· Act as a central point of contact for a specified book of clients and communicate client inquiries to appropriate investment management, compliance, audit, legal and operations teams.

· Coordinate account opening, maintenance and closing processes, which may involve working with both internal departments and external parties (i.e., client, custodian, brokers, lawyers, etc).

· Prepare and/or review meeting presentation books. This may involve working with CSEs and Portfolio Managers to download and analyze data before putting them into graphical presentations for client meetings. This will require someone who is familiar with fixed income concepts and a working knowledge of Bloomberg, Excel and Powerpoint.

· Prepare briefing memos (“background packages”) for client and business development meetings.

· Attend select client meetings.

· Prepare and/or review requests-for-proposal submissions.

· Review all standard and/or customized client reports and ensure they are sent according to the daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting deadlines.

· Maintain client contacts, sales opportunities and relationship notes in the client relationship database.

Work on ad-hoc client projects.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology, genomics, or a related field, and will be working closely with the research team for designing, executing and analyzing experiments related to drug response and drug delivery based on spatial transcriptomics and single-cell genomics.

Key Responsibilities:

Wet-capabilities

• Design, troubleshoot and execute experiments to investigate gene expression in single-cell and/or spatially resolved tissue samples
• Co-develop and optimize experimental protocols for single-cell genomics and spatial transcriptomics

Dry-capabilities

• Process and analyze large genomic data from transcriptomic and genomic assays including single-cell RNAseq, spatial transcriptomics, and other sequencing technologies (e.g. long reads)
• Co-develop algorithms and pipelines for single-cell genomics and spatial transcriptomics

General capabilities

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, computer sciences, bioinformatics, or a related field
• For wet candidates: strong experience with molecular biology techniques, including (clinical) sample handling, PCR optimization, tissue culture, RNA isolation, and sequencing library preparation. Experience with microscopy, image analysis, and statistical analysis would be advantageous

The SRF will be responsible for leading data-intensive quantitative research on the interactions between familial environmental, focusing strongly on comparing paternal factors with maternal and other household member factors, and the broader environment (e.g. built and natural environment) on child health, well-being, and development. The SRF will utilize skills in big data management, especially harmonizing and linking geospatiotemporal data with longitudinal cohort data, as well as quantitative causal inference and quasi-experimental techniques, to produce new scientific knowledge, write manuscripts, create presentations and reports, and brief collaborators and other stakeholders (academic, government, community, industry, etc.) as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to engage in the following:
