Research Fellow in Carbon-Negative Synthetic Biology and Engineering of Cyanobacterial Cell Factories

Chronic unresolved inflammation is a key pathogenic feature of prevalent inflammatory disorders and related syndromes that together are predicted to affect close to 60 million people with an annual cost of $90B. As such, the global anti-inflammatory therapeutic market is in urgent need for new targets for therapeutic intervention.

The Ho lab at Duke-NUS is building a platform to mine the human genome for novel determinants of the inflammatory response. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supporting strategic and applied research projects focused on addressing critical social issues such as lifelong and inclusive education, healthcare, resilient families, environment and sustainability through data-driven approaches. What You Will Be Doing

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualisation and execution of high-impact research projects aligned with the Centre’s vision for social good, including the design and implementation of impact assessment methodologies to evaluate the effectiveness of social programs and interventions.
• Design and implement quantitative and qualitative research studies to explore key social issues.
• Analyse large datasets using advanced statistical tools to extract meaningful insights related to social impact.

Job Requirements

• Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., Social Sciences, Public Health, Economics, Data Science, Sociology, Environmental Studies, etc.) or master’s degree with significant research experience.
• At least 3 years of post-doctoral or equivalent research experience, ideally in social impact or related fields.
