The Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disorders (CVMD) Programme houses state-of-the-art technologies for profiling mitochondrial function and metabolic adaptations in human patients and other model organisms, and undertakes translational and clinical research in cardiovascular and metabolic disorders.

Prof Derek Hausenloy’s laboratory aims to discover new treatments for protecting the heart from acute ischaemia/reperfusion injury and for preventing heart failure. We use a translational approach to research comprising cell models, rodent models (atherosclerosis, acute myocardial infarction and heart failure), nanoparticles for delivery of therapeutics to the ischaemic heart, and clinical studies.

The selected candidate will perform a variety of functions related to research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate, including but not limited to the following: -

• Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research project.
• Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings.
• Evaluate and interpret collected data and prepare oral presentations or written reports/ scientific manuscripts/literature for publication and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

Job Description

The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking a research fellow (RF) for the various projects on chronic disease. The successful applicant will have a strong foundation in epidemiology and quantitative methods, show good initiative in troubleshooting tasks and have excellent communication skills.

The RF will play an important role in the conduct of current research projects on diabetes epidemiology, care and outcomes. The Planetary Health Initiative is SDGHI’s newest strategic initiative. Planetary health pertains to the integrated state of health of both people and the planet. It recognizes that people’s health is now greatly shaped by human-driven global environmental change, such as climate change, environmental pollution, rapid urbanisation, biodiversity loss, among others. Addressing these interlocking challenges requires concerted actions within and beyond the health sector, spanning diverse disciplines and nations.

As an Equipment Engineer, you will own all assigned toolsets. As an Equipment Engineer, you will own all assigned toolsets. As part of IME’s Photonics & Sensors Department, the candidate will take lead for the development of various testing capability for advanced photonics, including but not limited to chip-level and wafer-level testing of optical devices and electro-optical devices. One Research Engineer position is open in the research group of Assistant Professor Zhao Lin, at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS).

The Research Engineer (RE) will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) on visual navigation foundation model for mobile robots, exploration using reinforcement learning control, learning-based control, etc. The RE will develop and train algorithms that enable intelligent and robust autonomous navigation in unseen environments. Hardware experiments will be carried out to test and demonstrate the applications of the developed algorithms.

The initial appointment duration is 12 months, which can then be extended based on an evaluation at the end of the initial appointment.

The candidates should have a Master’s degree from a reputable university, with expertise in robot learning, reinforcement learning, and aerial robotics.

A successful candidate should have a solid mathematical background (such as in calculus, linear algebra, ODE/PDE, optimization, real analysis, probability theory, stochastic process, etc). Strong publication records in leading journals and conferences of the relevant fields, and practical hands-on experience in applying visual foundation models to real mobile robots are required.
