Job Description

This job aims to address some critical issues about realizing on-chip structured light field manipulation through inverse design. The main targets are threefold:

1. Understand in depth the inverse design in integrated photonics, and on-chip structured light. Explore new effects, novel phenomena, unique features, and high-performance devices based on inverse design structures. Research directions include high-performance topological photonics coupling and routing devices, all-optical logic and computing devices, etc.

2. Enhance the robustness of inverse design methods to accommodate lithography process errors and facilitate high-throughput manufacturing. Combining inverse design and new material platforms, the research results should be able to effectively provide useful guidance for the design of optical devices based on chalcogenide glass materials (such as GeSbSe) and phase change materials (such as SbSe), and develop new near-infrared, mid-infrared high-performance optical devices.

3. Find practical solutions, establish a unified paradigm for on-chip complex high-dimensional light field manipulation based on inverse design, and expand the application scope of inverse design. Explore the application of inverse design in topological photonics, structured light, and other fields. Finally, one or two prototypical designs should be experimentally demonstrated.

Considering the above research targets, the candidate should possess in-depth physical insights and interdisciplinary knowledge of inverse design, integrated photonics, chalcogenide photonics, structured light, topological photonics, mid-infrared photonics, SOI, etc.

Applicants with practical experience in the design, manufacturing and characterization of mid-infrared and near-infrared photonic systems are preferred.

Qualifications

1. PhD Degree in Physics, Photonics, Electrical Engineering or relevant area with a strong background in integrated photonics and inverse design.

We are looking for an experienced clinical monitor to perform the study monitoring in ADVANcing Clinical Evidence in Infectious Diseases Network (ADVANCE ID). ADVANCE ID is jointly funded by the Wellcome Trust and Singapore institutions including the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. The vision of the Network is to improve public health by developing the clinical evidence base for the prevention and treatment of drug-resistant infections. Its mission is to build and sustain a strategic clinical research network focused on most efficiently delivering locally relevant interventions for drug-resistant infections.

The Network aims to improve and strengthen clinical research capabilities in the region by acting as a platform to develop good principles and practices. It will stabilise capacity and capabilities to mitigate inefficiencies in trial start-up phase and loss of skillset following study closure, as in typical trial setup. The Network will continuously develop its capabilities, quality and efficiency by learning from and collaborating with other clinical trial networks.

In the long term, the Network aims to support broader infectious disease studies by expanding geographically beyond its original starting point in South East Asia and collaborating with other networks around the world. It will function as an active network that involves patients in platform trials, allowing for rapid clinical research response in the event of an emerging infectious disease or pandemic threat.

The monitor should be able to supervise study sites and activities to ensure adherence to appropriate study protocols and applicable regulatory requirement terms of the study.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Conduct qualification visits (QV), site initiation visits (SIV), monitoring visits (MV) and termination visits (TV) at assigned clinical sites and generate visit reports.
• Monitor the progress of clinical study sites participating in a clinical study, and to assure the protocol is followed and data is reported accurately.
• Evaluate the quality and integrity of the reported data, site efficacy and investigational product (IP) management.
• Review the performance of the trial at designated sites, ensure the rights and well-being of human subjects are safeguarded and are in accordance with protocol.

About the role:

We are looking for a Scientific Research Analyst to quantify vitamins and mycotoxins by LC-MS in foods and related materials and develop improved extraction and analytical methods. The candidate should be experienced in analytical science, but training will be provided for candidates who have not previously worked with LC-MS. An initial 1-year contract will be offered with possibility of extension.

Job Responsibilities:

• Sample organisation, labelling and processing (food/protein extracts/faecal material)
• Extraction of metabolites (e.g. vitamins) by SPE (solid phase extraction)
• Analysis of metabolites by LC-MS (mainly using targeted triple-quad methodologies)
• Method validation, optimisation and quality control
• Data processing, analysis and statistical processing
• Report writing and publication
• Collaboration with food scientists, microbiologists and botanists

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Food Science or related discipline from a reputable university.
• Applicants with a Diploma in Medical Biotechnology or related discipline are encouraged to apply. Preferably you should possess at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in at least one analytical technique involving preparation of standard curves, pipette technique, randomisation, batch and quality control samples. Prior experience with LC-MS or HPLC is particularly useful.
• Excellent organisational skills
• Basic data handling and statistical ability. Prior experience with metabolic or genetic datasets will be advantageous but is not essential.
• Excellent spoken and written English.
• Fresh degree graduates are encouraged to apply as we will provide training for LC-MS.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Senior/Research Fellow to join the Centre for Holistic Initiatives (CHILD) for Learning and Development, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. CHILD brings together experts in the field of translational research, child health and development, and implementation science to accelerate the use of evidence in policy and practice and give every child the best start in life.

The successful candidate will support the Centre by i) conducting research and evidence synthesis projects aligned to the Centre’s strategy and key priorities, ii) preparing reports, publications and materials for funding bids, iii) providing supervision and mentorship to junior researchers, and iv) facilitating workshops and engagement activities.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Work closely with the team leads, cross-disciplinary research teams and collaborators.
• Design, plan, undertake and deliver research and evaluation projects using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods.
• Perform evidence synthesis activities, including systematic and rapid reviews.
• Lead on writing for reports, peer-reviewed publications and grant proposals for a variety of audiences.
• Contribute and lead, where appropriate, research dissemination activities at internal and external meetings and conferences.

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to conduct applied research in the topic of robust AI for autonomous driving perception. Detailed research tasks include physical-space adversarial example attacks, applying redundancy and diversity of deep neural networks to harden object detection and semantic segmentation, as well as maintaining the real-time performance of the hardened AI computing on embedded GPUs (NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin). RGB camera and LiDAR will be the main sensing modalities to be studied.
