Data science is an important component of biomedical and translational research, where data of multiple modalities are being constantly generated at unprecedented scale. The Research Data Integration group in the Biomedical Datahub Division of the Bioinformatics Institute (BII), A*STAR, aims to bridge the complexity of computational biology and data science with the needs of biologists and clinicians to drive biological discoveries and predict translational outcomes. Responsibilities:

1. Assist M&E Engineer, Superintending Officer Representation (SO Rep) and Resident Engineer (RE) in the supervision and quality assurance of construction works on site
2. Provide standing supervision as and when required by the M&E Engineer, SO Rep and RE
3. To ensure all installation methods and material used are in accordance with the approved drawings and specifications

ASIA RESEARCH INSTITUTE (ARI)

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Asia Research Institute (Science, Technology and Society Research Cluster)

The Asia Research Institute invites outstanding, active researchers from around the world to work on an important piece of Asia-centred research in the social sciences or humanities.

Apart from the quality of the research proposal, and the applicant’s publication track record, positions will be awarded on the basis of the relationship of their research topic to the identified priorities and themes of the cluster.

The Science, Technology, and Society (STS) Cluster concentrates on the relationship between those three domains in and beyond Asian settings, and their intersections with the environment in the past, present and future.

The cluster currently brings together a diverse, interdisciplinary group of researchers who work on the following research themes:

i) climate change and carbon governance;

ii) planetary health and ‘Asian medicines’;

iii) energy transitions, infrastructure and space;

iv) critical minerals.

The cluster welcomes diversity in methodological approaches, fosters interdisciplinary practices and encourages collaborative research projects. In the current round of recruitment, we are particularly interested in hiring a postdoctoral research fellow with research interests at the intersection of STS and environmental humanities.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Researcher will work under the supervision of the Cluster Leader and take the lead in duties such as organising workshops and conferences, participating in current cluster projects, and carrying out new projects (including applying for grant funding). Administrative duties and committee work will be assigned and form part of the position.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. Candidates must have fulfilled all requirements of securing a PhD from a reputable university at the time they take up their appointment at ARI.

Responsibilities

• Assist M&E Engineer, Superintending Officer Representation (SO Rep) in the supervision and quality assurance of construction works on site.
• Provide standing supervision required by the M&E Engineer and SO Rep.
• Check and ensure all installation methods, testing & commissioning and materials used are in accordance with the design intent, approved drawings, and specifications, as well as in compliance to code of practice/manufacturer’s installation instructions where applicable.
• Liaise with the Contractors/ sub-contractors, Resident Engineer (RE), and other Resident Technical Officers (RTO) in the coordination of site works and assist in resolving M&E issues.
• Highlight discrepancies, deviations, irregularities and feedback site progress and any critical/major issues to the M&E Engineer, SO Rep, and RE.
• Monitor the progress of work on-site, verify the contractors’ progress report and present the report to the Consultants in such format that the progress payment claim by the contractor can be easily evaluated.
• Verify the contractors’ progress payment claim in terms of work done and materials/equipment delivered and stored at site.
• Attend site meetings, client/consultant meetings, technical meetings, user group meetings, site inspections, testing and commissioning, etc
• Check as-built drawings and specifications tally with site installation.
• Ensure the contractors maintain work safety, cleanliness, and tidiness of the site.
• Maintain proper and updated daily records of all works done, including records of tests, inspections, T&C, status of work, safety, site diary, material and equipment delivered to and on site, labour, dayworks, provisional quantities, etc.
• Compile Punch List or Defect List with the contractors and ensure that the contractors carry out rectification work diligently to clear all defects during the Maintenance Period.
• Aware of the potential and actual OH&S hazards of his activities at the workplace and to highlight / communicate to the PM when he knows of any irregularities. He shall be aware of his individual OH&S obligations by ensuring that he is adequately equipped with appropriate safety gears, by observing closely to all safety rules / regulations / procedures at site and by attending all relevant site safety trainings.
• Undertake any other duties related to the project as and when instructed by the consultant. team.
• Liaise with the Contractors/ sub-contractors and other Resident Technical Officers (RTO) in the coordination of M&E systems’ interfacing, integration, and testing and commissioning between different stakeholders (i.e. Neighbourhood Centres (NCs) and Polyclinic).

Requirements

• Diploma in Electrical/ Mechanical or Building Services Engineering from local Polytechnic or other tertiary institutions of equivalent standing.
• Minimum eight (8) years of M&E work experience as a Resident Technical Officer. Past work experience in healthcare/residential/institutional projects is preferred.
• Conversant in local construction practices and codes for ACMV, electrical, fire protection, plumbing and sanitary services.
• Good co-ordination skills especially interfacing of M&E works with architectural and C&S works.
• Good analytical ability with strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Conduct Research on AI-Aided Fuzzing: Lead research efforts to explore the integration of large language models (LLMs) with fuzzing techniques for identifying security vulnerabilities in systems. Design experiments and methodologies to evaluate the effectiveness of AI-aided fuzzing in comparison to traditional methods.
• Develop AI Models for Fuzzing Enhancement: Develop and implement AI models, including deep learning architectures, reinforcement learning algorithms, and natural language processing techniques, to enhance fuzzing capabilities. Train these models on relevant datasets to improve their ability to generate meaningful inputs for fuzzing.
• Collaborate with Interdisciplinary Teams: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams comprising cybersecurity experts, AI researchers and software engineers to integrate AI-aided fuzzing techniques into existing cybersecurity frameworks. Communicate findings and insights effectively to team members and stakeholders.
• Publish Research Findings: Document research findings in academic publications, conference papers, and technical reports. Disseminate knowledge gained from the study of AI in cybersecurity, particularly in the context of fuzzing, to the broader research community through presentations and workshops.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field: A terminal degree in a relevant field is essential to demonstrate the depth of knowledge and expertise required for conducting advanced research in AI and cybersecurity.
• Research Experience in Fuzzing and AI: Proven track record of conducting research in fuzzing techniques and artificial intelligence, with a focus on deep learning, natural language processing, or reinforcement learning. Experience in applying AI methods to cybersecurity problems is highly desirable.
• Publication Record: Demonstrated ability to publish research findings in reputable conferences and journals relevant to AI, cybersecurity, or software engineering. Strong publication record in top-tier venues indicates the ability to contribute novel insights to the field.

Duties & Responsibilities
1.Recruit, train, assess and supervise personnel performing recruitment and interviewing to ensure quality of the participant data.
2. Manage the recruitment listings and study visit scheduling to ensure response rates and operating capacity are maximised, and project timelines are being met
3. Design, test, implement and review new workflows or surveys
4. Recontact participants to verify and rectify collected information
5. Ensure participant information in the operations database is updated and accurate and the completed consent and data forms are accounted for and securely stored
6. Record and track the submission, rework or rejection of consent forms and questionnaires and generate reports on data quality
7. Investigate participant complaints and incidents and implement appropriate actions for continual improvement of processes and service
8. Supervise and guide callers, interviewers and recruiters on professional conduct and responsiveness to ensure participant satisfaction and willingness to contribute for the long-term
9. Compute monthly payments to the recruiters
10. Manage the cash and vouchers for the reimbursement to participants of various projects

Qualifications

• A degree holder, preferably from a biomedical or life science discipline
• Minimum 3 years of working experience and 1 year of supervisory experience
• Clear and good communication skills
• Careful and meticulous with data management
• Fluent in English and at least 1 other local language (for examples Malay or Chinese) to be able to understand and communicate with research participants who are only able to speak Malay or Chinese
• Proficient in Microsoft applications
