A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs (A*STAR ID Labs) is seeking for a Scientist to join us in our mission to be a leading centre of infectious diseases research. A*STAR ID Labs aims to develop a cohesive A*STAR response to drive and deliver translational infectious diseases research to better health and economic outcomes.

The candidate will be joining the Antimicrobial Chemical Biology Lab, a newly established group in A*STAR ID Labs focusing on the development of synthetic antimicrobial compounds for potential therapeutic application against infection.

Research projects will encompass various tasks such as:

• Chemical synthesis
• In vitro antimicrobial activity testing
• Understanding mechanisms of action
• In vivo efficacy evaluation.

Job duties and responsibilities :

• Oversee and manage all Singapore Chinese Health Study genetic data hosted on GIS RAPTOR platform.
• Coordinate data extractions and data transfer for the Singapore Chinese Health Study.
• Manage design, develop, verification and validation activities for appropriate genetic data storage and analysis.
• Execute large-scale genetic evaluations for ageing biomarkers and age-related traits and outcomes with the Singapore Chinese Health Study dataset.
• Coordinate data harmonization with key collaborators to enable larger scale data analysis.

Job Description:

• Develop epitaxial processes for selective and non-selective growth of Ge and SiGe layers on Si substrates.
• Improve baseline processes for high-quality SiGe and Ge epitaxy: control uniformity and thickness and minimize threading dislocation density.
• Design epitaxial structures and develop processes for Ge and SiGe photodetectors (PD) and electro-absorption modulators (EAM) devices, integrating Ge/SiGe devices into Silicon photonic circuits.
• Troubleshoot to maintain tool and process quality. Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Out-of-Control Plans, and other technical documentation to maintain processes and tools.
• Perform metrology and characterization of SiGe and Ge epilayers (e.g., dopant and thickness uniformity, surface roughness, crystal quality, stress, carrier lifetime, etc.).

This candidate will have the opportunity to develop unconventional ultrasound transducer drivers, receiver circuits for IoT and biomedical applications as well as cutting-edge high-speed analog circuits for advanced optical communication.

• Design and tapeout circuit blocks e.g. high linearity low-noise amplifier, variable gain amplifier, envelop detector, and high voltage driver for MEMS ultrasound transducers.

Principal Scientist for Advanced Photonics and Flat Optics Process Integration

The candidate will take the lead for the development of advanced photonics and flat optics integration. This could include but not limited as photonic integration, photonic heterogeneous integration, multi-layered flat optics integration, electro-photonics integration, etc., with various materials. The candidate will work closely with an excellent multidisciplinary and high-industry driven team involving photonics, semiconductor process, and fab operation.

Responsibilities:

• Development of various photonics integration process with 8-inch and 12-inch fabrication facilities, including such as photonics heterogenous integration and flat optics integration.
• Design of Experiments (DOE) for both design and process margin checking and process control.
• Baseline integration process development and standardization for both photonics heterogenous integration and flat optics integration.
• Lead the inline defect analysis and process DOE towards yield improvement.
• Lead the inline process metrology data taking and analysis, device / circuit performance data taking.
• Data analysis and documentation.

We are seeking passionate scientists who wish to develop innovative methods in the metagenomic assembly field. Our lab is focused on leveraging new technologies to better study microbial populations and their impact on human health. In this context, our lab has extensive experience in metagenomic analysis and has developed several widely used tools in this field. We?re now focusing on new methods to obtain a comprehensive catalogue of complete genomes at the strain level from metagenomic samples, which can be further leveraged for comparative genomic analysis.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment, with unique access to next-generation sequencing technologies and a wide range of samples. Solutions developed during this project will have direct applications to ongoing and new microbiome research projects in the lab, particularly in studying antimicrobial resistance and skin diseases.
