Job Description
The Research Associate will oversee the planning, implementation, and tracking of multiple research projects within the Centre for Innovation and Precision Eye Health. This role requires a strong understanding of research methodologies, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that research projects are completed on time, within scope, and in line with the association’s strategic goals.
Main duties and responsibilities
Coordinate and manage the day-to-day operations of research projects and the centre, ensuring adherence to protocols and deadlines.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including researchers, academic institutions, funding bodies, and partners.
Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, milestones, and deliverables.
Plan and coordinate academic meetings and events
- Project Execution & Management:
Oversee the execution of multiple concurrent research projects, ensuring that objectives are met within budget.
Monitor project progress and address potential risks or bottlenecks proactively.
Ensure proper documentation of all project activities, results, and changes to project scope
Assist Centre’s Director in scheduling meetings and grant management
Main duties and responsbilities
- Team Leadership & Communication:
Lead cross-functional project teams and provide clear direction on project goals and responsibilities.
Foster collaboration and communication between researchers, data analysts, and support staff.
Prepare and present regular progress reports, updates, and findings to senior management and stakeholders.
- Budgeting & Financial Management:
Manage project budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial protocols.
Monitor project expenditures, approve invoices, and ensure timely financial reporting.
- Grant Writing & Reporting:
Assist with the preparation and submission of grant applications and proposals.
Track and report on grant deliverables and outcomes as required by funders and sponsors.
Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD degree in a relevant field (e.g., Public Health, Data Science, or related disciplines).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of project management experience in a research or academic setting.
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex, multi-disciplinary research projects.
- Experience with grant writing and managing grant-funded projects is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in research methodologies, data management, and statistical analysis.
- Budget management experience and financial acumen.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, and manage multiple stakeholders.
- Familiarity with research ethics, compliance standards, and IRB processes.
- Experience in ophthalmology, data science or AI research, etc.
- Experience with data management software and platforms (e.g., REDCap, SPSS, R).
