Job Responsibilities

• Accountable for execution of all technical elements of development, innovation and renovation products (e.g. formulation, processing, specifications, and safety – include passed microbe challenge test)
• Mid-term Idea creation: actively volunteers ideas for improvement and constantly seeks ways of improving processes and outcomes, as well to capture new opportunity
• Self Leadership: actively works on personal development and applying learning from past experience
• Lead collaboration with other commercial areas such as with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing and other R&D teams for implementing of new product (innovation) and renovation of formula.
• To conduct sensory tests for new highly complex formulas, ingredients, and support the coordination of research and development programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, modification, and implementation of a modified Android AOSP for fine-graine monitoring of Android applications.
• Design, modification, and implementation of an Android kernel to support the modified AOSP.
• Design and implementation of an Android app that facilitates the communication between handsets and emulator.
• Experimenting the app and the modified AOSP and kernel on both real handsets and emulators.
• Evaluating the security capability and performance of the system.

• Minimum Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or closely related disciplines.
• Good communication skills in English.
• Relevant research experience in computer security and related areas is a plus.
• Advanced level of programming and software implementation, especially in C/C++ and Java.
• Good understanding of Android architecture and Android executables.
• Good analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledgeable in software security problems and solutions.
• Research experience in software and system security related research.
• Applicants with research publications in security area will be advantageous.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Interdisciplinary research is necessary to address many of the key issues of our times. Unfortunately, there are significant barriers to interdisciplinary collaboration. These include, among others, differences in publication conventions and norms among disciplines, tenure and academic promotion processes favouring single-discipline research, and perceptions that interdisciplinary research is less rigorous than single-discipline research. While these challenges are likely to resonate with interdisciplinary scholars, there is a need to move beyond an evidence-base that is mostly anecdotal towards a systematic understanding of these practical challenges.

In this project, the Research Fellow will work together with Associate Professor Terry van Gevelt to identify and quantify practical challenges to interdisciplinary research using the field of energy studies as a vehicle. The successful candidate will possess a strong quantitative skillset and a demonstrated ability to problem solve.

Specifically, the Research Fellow will:

• Use web-scraping and textual analysis to generate a novel dataset
• Analyse the dataset using quasi-experimental methods
• Assist in the design and calibration of a choice experiment; and
• Make a significant contribution to the drafting of two research articles for submission to high-impact journals.

• PhD in Quantitative Social Sciences, Computational Social Sciences, Economics, or a related discipline.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• To extend and expand the long time-series records of meteorological data and extreme climate-induced events in our study area (by running a Zooniverse project to digitise historical instrumental weather data contained in ships logbooks, newspapers, and mission station records, using crowd-sourcing methods);
• To compile a database of narrative evidence describing weather conditions and weather events, their impacts and associated societal responses (through archival analysis of international collections of missionary documents and newspapers from historical archives), and to assist in converting qualitative descriptions of rainfall conditions into continuous quantitative ordinal-scale climate indices (using standard historical climatology methods);
• To use the narrative evidence compiled in point 2, to explore the impacts of rainfall extremes upon societies in Singapore, Malaysia and Sumatra during the study period through modelling and/or historical analysis.

• PhD in Historical Climatology, Climate History, or a related field.
