The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) at Nanyang Technological University seeks a Research Fellow to work on integrating geological and geophysical observations towards better understanding of the tectonic deformation and kinematics of the Southeast Asian Ring of Fire. The NTU theoretical and computational plasma physics group is seeking to hire a research fellow to work on the simulation of energetic-particle-driven instabilities in fusion plasmas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Understand the role of energetic particles and resonant magnetic perturbations in plasma instabilities
• Perform numerical simulations of energetic-particle-driven instabilities using a plasma simulation code
• Benchmark the result with standard cases and literature
• Analyze the data and draw a relationship. Conduct a parameter scan to quantify the relationship.
• Derive a reduced model for physical understanding or compare to experimental data

Job Requirements:

• Ph.D. in plasma physics, computational mathematics, or other related fields
• Research experience in plasma physics and/or numerical simulation
• Strong track record in terms of publications
• Experience in high-performance computing is favourable

Basic Functions:

• Carries out product development related activities and supports to stability studies, trouble shooting, customer complaints and other special requirements.

Duties:

• Carries out experiments, assays as assigned by the project leader.

The School of Biological Sciences (SBS) is a school of the College of Science. It was established in 2002 with the mission to make a strong contribution to biological and biomedical sciences.
