Genetic engineering of plants promises to provide sustainable solutions for food security and climate change mitigation. Current genetic engineering technologies using Agrobacterium, viruses and nanoparticles through syringe injection and biolistic bombardment suffer from limitations including narrow ranges of host species, low transformation efficiencies, strict restrictions on cargo types and sizes, tissue damage and unwanted transgene integration into plant genome. A major challenge to deliver exogenous material into plants is the cell wall barrier. A full-time Research Assistant position in the team led by Assistant Professor Chua Wei Ling is available at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, National University of Singapore. The selected candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator in the research domains of (i) nursing staffing and patient outcomes and (ii) post-sepsis syndrome.
