This position focuses on the deep learning inspired understanding of the responses of slopes to extreme draught-heavy rainfall climate. The selected Research Fellow is required to:

Research Assistant/Associate, Analytical Chemistry

We are currently recruiting a highly motivated Research Assistant/Associate in the team of Nanyang Assistant Professor Guan Xue Li. Our group is interested in understanding the roles of microbial lipids in human health and antimicrobial resistance. It is increasingly appreciated that microbial lipids play critical functions in modulation of human metabolic and immune health, as well as infection outcome and treatment responses. We employ an integrated systems biology approach, including development and application of lipidomics, to study the complex repertoire of bacterial lipids and aim to identify lipid metabolic networks which can be modulated for treatment of infections.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team of investigators in LKCMedicine, clinical and industry partners, as well as the wider lipidomics community, including the microbial lipids interest group. This position will expose the candidate to state-of-the-art technologies for lipidomics/ metabolomics, other leading edge research facilities in LKCMedicine and NTU and access to clinical samples, including bacterial isolates from human patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Optimize bioanalytical workflows for lipid analysis of microbial and mammalian samples from laboratory and clinical sources
• Perform sample preparation and LC-MS/MS analysis

The Laboratory of Applied Human Genetics at the National Cancer Centre Singapore is a multi-disciplinary laboratory with specific focus on peritoneal malignancies and sarcoma. The direction of our laboratory is to solve real world clinical problems via sound scientific translation. Since the conception of our laboratory 7 years ago, we have now set up three scientific pillars of Therapeutics, Companion Diagnostic and CAPTIVATE (Target Generation) pipeline. Currently, we are working towards a first-in-human therapeutic developed in our laboratory. We are looking for an innovative, enthusiastic and highly motivated Research Fellow to work with a team of researchers in the area of cancer therapy for advanced metastatic cancers. Interested applicants should have an extensive molecular biology experience to uncover the MOA/structure of our therapeutic using cellular signaling, cell biology or protein structure approaches and possess the desire to translate basic science to make a clinical impact. Previous work with genomic / CRISPR / proteomic screens (or similar) to understand the molecular biology of key oncogenic drivers will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities:

- Establish bioassays for in-house screening pipelines to develop new therapeutics.

- Design complex experiments required for the projects.

Job Description

The successful candidate will work with Associate Professor John S. Ascher on environmental modeling of mosquito vectors and stinging wasps and bees and other insects of importance for public and environmental health under the CNRS@CREATE, SPACE project.

The main responsibilities of the position include:

Working with the appointment PI to validate as fit for use an existing specimen and community science dataset of insects of importance for public and environmental health, especially mosquitoes and stinging wasps. The appointee will then conduct species distribution modeling based on an existing pipeline already established for bee research and documented in a publication. The candidate will start with highest priority mosquito species such as Aedes albopictus and other well known species of public health importance will move on to other species as time allows.

Qualifications

MSc or equivalent level qualification in Biological Sciences required.

Skills:

The candidate must be familiar with environmental modelling and SDMs using software such as R and MaxEnt. Preferably this includes ability to address spatial biases.

Experience:

Experience with entomology, specimen and other databases, and coding in R for environmental modelling desirable.

Job Description

This project aims to investigate the performance of cementitious materials and 3D printed concrete against ballistic and blast loadings. The researcher will be required to cast and fabricate the various cementitious materials and 3D printed concrete, prepare the logistics and perform the relevant ballistic and blast tests. He/she will also be required to set up the numerical models in commercial FE software (e.g. LS Dyna), validated against experimental data, to understand the mechanisms in resisting the high impact loadings for the various cementitious materials.

Job Requirements

• The research fellow should have a PhD degree in a relevant field, with experience in the following areas:

- 3D concrete printing;

- Laboratory ballistic tests;

- Design of blast tests for concrete specimens;

- FE simulations of blast loading on concrete structures.

• Strong written and spoken communications and able to present results.
• Open to fixed-term contract.

The SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute (“SDGHI”) is a platform for global health activities across the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre (“AMC”). The Institute aims to address current and emerging health challenges across Asia. Working in collaboration with partners, the Institute seeks to tackle prevalent health challenges, strengthen health systems and better insulate countries from pandemics and disease threats.

The Global Health Systems Research Unit is a new and dynamic unit focused on elucidating health system challenges and developing solutions. It collaborates with partners in Singapore and across Asia, generating evidence that drives intervention programmes across the AMC. The unit explores innovative ways to work with data, including testing AI tools for efficient management, analysis, synthesis, and visualisation of research data.

The Research Associate will play a dual role, supporting both SDGHI’s Global Health Systems and the SingHealth Centre for Person-Centred Care (CPCC). The ideal candidate will report to the SDGHI Clinical Core and work closely with the team at CPCC to contribute to projects that improve health equity and access in Singapore and across Asia.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to a wide range of health systems and services research programmes, including health systems analysis, policy analysis, and evaluation of person-centric initiatives.
• Develop and validate new measures of patient-reported experience and health systems and services frameworks.
• Conduct ethnographic and qualitative research, utilising participatory approaches to health systems and services research.
• Implement advanced data tools for efficient management, analysis, synthesis, and visualisation of health systems data, ensuring accuracy.
• Assist with project management, coordinating effectively among diverse stakeholders within SingHealth Duke-NUS AMC and external partners (including overseas) to achieve project goals.
• Write research manuscripts, case studies, reports, presentations to academic audiences, funders, and other stakeholders.

Job Requirements:

• Master’s Degree in Public or Global Health, Social Sciences, or a field relevant to health systems and services research.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in health and social systems research.
• Demonstrated proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, with experience in ethnographic and participatory approaches. Prior experience in behavioural economics is highly advantageous.
• Possess excellent academic writing and presentation skills.
• Experience in leveraging AI tools for quantitative and qualitative data synthesis and analysis is highly advantageous.
• Possess a growth mindset and can manage multiple projects with dynamic reporting lines and multiple stakeholders.

Overview:

The Lab Executive will be responsible for the management and maintenance of the Tissue Culture Facility, Pathogen Room, and Chemical Room. This role includes ensuring the smooth operation of these facilities, adherence to safety and compliance standards, and providing support and training to research personnel.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Facility Management:

• Maintain the Tissue Culture Facility, Pathogen Room, and Chemical Room in a functional and safe state.
• Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and serviced.
• Oversee the procurement and inventory management of consumables, chemicals, and equipment.

Safety and Compliance:

• Develop, revise, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and risk assessments (RAs) for new and existing equipment or procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and guidelines.
• Manage chemical and hazardous waste collation and coordinate disposal with licensed contractors.

Training and Support:

• Conduct and coordinate training sessions for new and existing research personnel on lab protocols and safety procedures.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for lab equipment and procedures.
• Serve as a point of contact for lab-related queries and issues.

Administrative Duties:

• Assist in the preparation and management of service contracts for lab equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, waste disposal, and compliance documentation
• Perform other duties as directed by the Facility Manager or Deputy Manager.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in life science or biological science
• ​Prior experience (>1 year) in a biological laboratory
• ​At least 2 years of laboratory management experience in either individual lab or a shared facility
• ​Possess excellent written and spoken communication skills
• ​Organized, meticulous, able to work together in a team as well as independently
• ​Prior experience in either safety management and/or knowledge of tissue culture are added advantages​

Specifications:

• Official Working hours: 8.30 AM to 6 PM (Monday to Thursday); 8.30 AM to 5.30 PM (Friday)
• Temporary Arrangement (6-months), if the candidate is a good fit, there is potential for conversion to contract, and duration would be 1 year, renewable yearly.
