Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to assume the following responsibilities:

• Design research projects in close collaboration with the Institute’s Directors (Prof. Sumit Agarwal / A.Prof Johan Sulaeman / A.Prof Zhang Weina) and Research Affiliates
• Take ownership and responsibility for the successful delivery of research projects, ensuring they are completed within the required deadline and allocated budget, and meeting/exceeding project specifications and targets
• Participate in pre-project activities such as identifying required resources to ensure project completion including staffing and organizational needs of the project team, and preparing high-level project plans with project timeline and resource requirements
• Development of data collection and storage framework
• Plan and perform the collection of information from various alternative, non-traditional data sources, along with commercial databases
• Plan and perform quantitative analyses of various corporate disclosure reports and regulatory frameworks, including textual and graphical analysis.
• Plan and perform the development of databases that can be used by researchers throughout the Institute, with accessible interface for external users
• Monitor progress of research projects and provide necessary interventions to ensure smooth completion of each project
• Manage and coordinate project deliverables, ensuring their quality
• Manage the collaborations with research and industry stakeholders, including providing periodic progress updates and deliverables for grant funding body or project sponsors
• Manage industry partners’ expectation by understanding their needs and providing realistic expectations and scope of each project
• Preparation of results for industry communications, presentations, and academic articles for journal publications
• For Research Fellow position: guide, mentor, and supervise research analysts and associates on the project team
• Work closely with the rest of the SGFIN team to support SGFIN’s activities and objectives

Requirements

• Academic background in the following subjects is preferred: computing, information systems, economics, business, finance, or related disciplines. A bachelor's degree is required, a master's degree in one of these subjects is preferred, with a PhD degree required for the Research Fellow position.
• Basic understanding of financial sector (banks and other financial institutions), financial markets, corporate financial statements, and credit risk analysis, is preferred.
• A thorough knowledge of the research field of quantitative analysis is highly preferred.
• Quantitative and programming skills, including knowledge of textual and graphical analyses, are highly desired.
• Database design and management experience is highly desired.

Job Description

• Design and develop the red team's customized secure system (remote control program), and ensure that the endpoint protection can be bypassed such as Crowdstrike, Windows Defender, 360 Safeguard
• Reverse analysis of common EDR and HIDS to identify methods for bypassing detection, and embed security principles into the design of system architectures to mitigate the risks
• Research the persistence solutions under common operating systems such as Windows, MacOS, and Linux
• Perform red team engagements related to the periodic review and audit activities of infrastructure security systems (IDC network, office environment, cloud native) and maintain documentation of security standards and procedures

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience
• Extensive experience in RAT (Remote Access Tool) development, with the ability to customize attack frameworks like Cobalt Strike
• Extensive experience in anti-endpoint protection, providing solutions to bypass the detection of EDR such as CrowdStrike, Windows Defender, 360 Safeguard
• Experience in persistence solutions under common operating systems (Windows, MacOS, Linux)
• In-depth understanding of security mechanisms of Windows/Linux systems, and familiar with offensive techniques in ring0/ring3
• Proficient in scripting/programming languages like C/C++, Go, PowerShell, Javascript, ASM, etc
• Strong reverse engineering skills with proficiency in tools such as IDA Pro, OllyDBG, WinDBG, GDB, etc
