About the role

About you

Overview of The Department

Commercial Rating and Underwriting (CRU) sits within the Credit and Fraud Risk (CFR) division and forms the institutional credit risk management function within American Express. The CRU team plays the critical role of assessing and managing the risk of institutional exposures across all business units with American Express, and in all regions globally. Credit exposures are primarily generated through corporate and small business card programs, via merchant service relationships where non-delivery risk exists, and among the securities portfolio held for firm-wide liquidity. In addition to determining the internal credit rating which drives the probability of default of each exposure, CRU also calculates the loss given default of these obligors while underwriting card programs. Job responsibilities

• Support conceptualization development for new credit products suitable for the markets.

• Coach junior credit approvers and analysts.

Requirements:

• About 5 years of credit experience from banking or financial industry.
• Preferably possess the following complementary work experience in Credit underwriting, Restructuring, Program lending
• Degree holder, preferably in risk management discipline.
• Good inter-personal, communication & writing skills
• Meticulous with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Motivated and collaborative team player with ability to consider the broader picture
• Proficient in English and preferably in Mandarin or South East Asia language to communicate with our Mandarin/South East Asian speaking stakeholders

Group Strategic Analytics team delivers analytics and applications that solve quantitative problems for businesses across Deutsche Bank Investment Bank. The design, specification and implementation are the responsibilities of Strats in close partnership with Trading, Sales, Middle Office and Technology groups.

Deutsche Bank’s Desk Strats support trading desks and combines expertise in quantitative analytics, modelling, pricing and risk management with deep understanding of system architecture and programming. The primary output is a scalable and flexible Front Office pricing and risk management system with consistent interface to both the Middle Office and Back Office.

Your key responsibilities:

• Implementing the automation of all PnL processes and existing risk processes and enable appropriate controls (market object, model choice, calibration choice, booking exception policy)
• Provide mathematical and pricing solutions to new and existing products covered by emerging market business
• Migrate all businesses risk management and valuation to the single strategic analytics platform
• Working in partnership with Trading, Structuring, Finance, Market Risk, Technology and Operations to drive the build-out of strategic analytics platform and provide essential production support
• Applying data science and machine learning techniques to provide trading desk analytical insight

Your skills and experience:

• Minimum bachelor's degree in quantitative subjects such as financial engineering, statistics, mathematics or computer science
• Working knowledge in quantitative analytic and financial modeling on interest rates, credit and FX derivative with proven experience in pricing and risk management
• Proficiency in programming skills languages such as Python or C++ in financial pricing in an investment banking environment
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant work / internship experience in quantitative space within an investment bank
• Working experience on solving practical financial problems using machine learning and data science techniques

Job Requirements:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and can interact with a diverse group.
• Proactive, positive attitude and desire to work as a team and help the team to achieve its objectives.

Responsibilities

• Coverage of Manufacturing/Project Financing sector for MNC conglomerates
• Perform independent credit analysis and evaluation, including financial analysis and projections on new and existing banking facilities/ loans to make recommendations for approval
• Identify key risks and mitigating factors in the credit evaluation and present cases to the Credit Committee for deliberation and approval
• Conduct customer visits with Front Office to have better understanding of business operations
• Plan and organise to ensure credit reviews are completed according to timeline
• Making recommendations for trade requests based on approving authority
• Review credit documentation according to approved terms and conditions

Requirements

• Recognized bachelor degree, preferably in Business, Accounting, Banking, Finance, Economics
• Approximately 5 years of relevant experience in Credit Review with exposure to Corporate Banking
• Strong communication skills to liaise with different stakeholders
