Job Description:

• To support new investment, new trading business or divestment projects of Headquarter in Japan or Sumitomo group, from international and domestic tax point of view, as well as accounting (IFRS) matters. Providing support of PMI(Post merger Integration) for newly acquired company including Tax/ Accounting and Business operation.
• Maintain relationship with external parties (Auditors, Tax consultant and relevant authorities) and solve the disputes between Group co. and them.
• To manage tax matters including providing tax advice, dealing with tax audit and litigation, transfer pricing, Global Minimum Tax within Asia and Oceania region where around 100 group companies are involved. Frequent physical visit to group companies is required.
• To be an organizer of regional accounting and tax group activities within Asia and Oceania region, in coperation with Headquarter in Japan.
• To build, train and develop a diverse group of local accounting and tax members in the region to better understand not only local rule and regulation but also our group accounting and tax policy, through communication in Japanese and English.
• To manage the tax compliance (tax provision, tax return filing, etc.) of the Singapore entity and to support the one of our group regional offices located in SEA.

Requirements:

• At least a Bachelor's degree from a recognized University.
• To facilitate the regional accounting activities, good communication and leadership experience as a manager with more than 10 staffs over 3 years
• Comprehensive and deep understanding of accounting standards (IFRS etc.), not only for basic knowledge and practical manner but also for comprehensive practice-based knowledge in specific area of accounting e.g. infrastructure (e.g. IFRIC12) , mining operation, leases, financial instruments, business combination and foreign currency exchange (including hedge) etc
• Comprehensive and deep understanding of the taxation in Japan, including the detail knowledge and experience of CFC rule, corporate reorganization, group taxation, taxation relating to outbound investment, and the dealing with tax audit.
• Comprehensive and deep understanding of the international taxation, including transfer pricing, tax treaties, PE, Global Minimum Tax and local taxation in Asia and Oceania countries. Experience in concluding APA(Advance Pricing Agreement) between Japan and other asian country is strongly desirable.
• High proficiency in Japanese and English (both writing, reading, listening and speaking) to effectively communicate with counterparts in Headquarter in Japan, and in group companies in the region.
• Deep understanding of the Japanese Trading House business model, such as trading (export and import) of goods and services and investment in diversified business areas.
• Experience for participate PMI activities for Tax, Accounting and Business Operation is required. Also using SAP and DIVA accounting system is desirable.
• More than 15 years experience in tax and accounting area, and more than 3 years managerial experience.

Responsibilities

• Accurate and timely production of monthly management accounts
• Monitor cash balance and ensure funding requests are submitted on timely basis
• Generate weekly cashflow statements and review of bank reconciliations
• Review of transfer pricing between related companies (including monthly intercompany billings are done accurately)
• Review of quarterly intercompany reconciliation
• Maintenance of the general ledger, including journals and reconciliations.
• Maintain full sets accounts and compile year-end financial statements of key entities, including review for other smaller entities prepared by accounts executives
• Review fixed assets registers (including right-of-use assets), depreciation charges and lease interest recognition in income statement
• Review of bi-weekly payments and ensure invoices are paid within payment terms.
• Production of VAT and other tax returns, including submission to the tax authority
• Support the maintenance of an appropriate internal financial controls and risk management processes
• Support the business heads with ad-hoc request for data, insights and financial planning and analysis
• Performing all aspects of the day-to-day financial and management accounting functions
• Other ad-hoc tasks as assigned

• Minimum Degree holder with Chartered Accountant certification

SUMMARY

As a Senior Tax Associate, you will be responsible, but not limited to, preparing the tax filing documents, gathering information for tax review and performing tax research projects.
