Role: Storage AND Backup Lead
Required skills:
o Hypervisor Management:
§ VMware vSphere or VMware ESXi
§ Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM)
§ Microsoft Hyper-V
o Storage Management:
§ SAN administration tools (e.g., EMC Unisphere, HPE Command View)
§ NAS management software (e.g., NetApp OnCommand System Manager, FreeNAS)
o Backup Management:
§ Enterprise backup solutions (e.g., Veritas NetBackup, Commvault, Veeam Backup & Replication)
§ Cloud backup services (e.g., AWS Backup, Azure Backup)
§ Data deduplication tools for optimizing backup storage usage
· Manage, maintain, and optimize client’s virtual infrastructure, storage systems, and data backup solutions.
· Hypervisor Management:
o Design, implement, and maintain virtual infrastructure using hypervisor technologies such as VMware or Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM).
o Monitor and optimize virtual machine performance, resource allocation, and utilization.
o Ensure high availability and reliability of the virtual infrastructure through proactive maintenance and monitoring.
o Manage and resolve incidents and problems related to the virtual environment.
· Storage Management:
o Oversee the administration of storage systems, such as SAN and NAS.
o Perform regular storage health/utilization checks and recommend optimization.
o Ensure sufficient capacity for application/infrastructure needs across storage systems.
o Manage and resolve incidents and problems related to the storage systems.
· Backup Management:
o Manage backup solution for client’s environment.
o Monitor backup schedules, ensuring successful completion and addressing any failures.
o Ensure compliance with data retention policies and regulations.
o Manage and resolve incidents and problems related to the backup solution.
· Documentation and Reporting:
o Maintain documentation of virtual environments, storage configurations, and backup procedures.
o Generate regular reports on system performance, capacity planning, and backup status.
o Prepare Root Cause Analysis report for high severity incidents.
Escalate to vendor when necessary for incident resolution.
