Job Overview:
We are looking for a Sommelier to act as our wine expert and create wine lists that pair with our food menus. Sommelier responsibilities include recommending whiskey and wine varieties to our guests, supervising wine serving and collaborating with winemakers to renew our selections and achieve better prices. Ultimately, you will delight our guests by helping them choose the best wine to complement their fare.
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and coach service team members on whiskey and wine knowledge, tasting and recommendationCurate and sustain a dynamic wine and whiskey list that pairs well with cuisine and guests requirement
- Provide and maintain an extensive offering of wines, liquors, spirits and cigars
- Responsible for wine/cigar recommendation, purchase, and cost management\
- Ensure all related inventory and stock are stored and managed accordingly to standards
- Partner and feedback to General Manager and team members with regards to guest preferences/requirement on the scope of wine/cigars recommendation and service
- Comply and implement all health and safety requirements
- Lead and work closely with stakeholders on delivering personalised hospitality, and wine service during business operations
- Maintain professional standards required of the club’s sommelier
- Sustain service standards and implement tasks within stipulated timeline and in a reasonable approach according to Company policies, ensuring smooth operations
Requirements
- Have prior F&B experience with extensive understanding for fine wine, whiskey and cigars
- Proven experience in hospitality management, preferably in a private club or high-end resort setting
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering excellence in every aspect of operations
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of food and beverage operations, event planning, and facility management
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality management or related field preferred
