L1 Cybersecurity Specialist

- Remuneration package: Up to $3,500 + AWS
As an L1 Cybersecurity Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely and effective management of vulnerability reports received from external sources. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around overseeing day-to-day operations, assessing incoming reports, coordinating with relevant teams for resolution, and maintaining detailed records of vulnerabilities and remediation actions.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations, including receiving, assessing, and responding to vulnerability reports from external parties.
Triage and Prioritization:
- Evaluate incoming vulnerability reports, prioritize them based on severity and potential impact, and coordinate with relevant teams for resolution.
Tracking Remediation:
- Handle enquiries and disputes regarding reported vulnerabilities.
- Escalate deviations to the manager for independent assessment.
- Send reminders for outstanding issues and chase agencies to provide source codes for further assessment if necessary.
Coordinate Retesting:
- Coordinate retesting with researchers or triagers.
- Conduct initial retests and perform retests independently to ensure effective resolution.
Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of reported vulnerabilities, assessments, and remediation actions taken to address them.
Trend Identification:
- Identify trends in vulnerability reports and suggest amendments to rules of engagement/program policies accordingly.
Reporting and Statistics:
- Upload statistics monthly to the Digital platform system to track program performance and effectiveness.
Support Integration and Administration:
- Assist in the integration and administration of JIRA with external systems to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and vulnerability management processes.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in using tools such as JIRA for tracking and managing vulnerabilities.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, to support critical incidents or vulnerability reports.
- Certification in cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, CEH, OSCP) is desirable but not required.
