We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist with a strong sense of social mission. This role is
seconded to NTUC First Campus (NFC) and NTUC Health (NH), as a part of both organisations’
multidisciplinary data team consisting of data engineers, data scientists and data analysts. You
will report to the NFC/NH Data Lead, who is accountable to the NFC/NH Chief Strategy and
Transformation Officer and the NED Chief of Data.
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will contribute to both NFC’s mission of bringing affordable and
quality childcare services to the people in Singapore, and to NH's mission of delivering trusted
care for individuals and families, by helping both organisations harness the value of their data.
In your work, you will implement data science solutions, design and build data science
experiments, and have opportunities to work with senior leadership on high impact data projects
within NFC and NH, and even across other NTUC social enterprises.
Besides being plugged into NFC and NH, you will be a member of the NE Data Science Center
of Excellence, a vibrant tech community made up of data scientists passionate about tech and
social good.
The ideal candidate is a one with advanced data science experience, who is proficient in
discovering valuable insights from large volumes of data, and in providing predictive and
prescriptive analytics solutions of high quality.
Responsibilities:
● Work with business/data analyst/product manager and provide data science expertise to
address identified analytic opportunities, including analytical approaches, data, and
technology requirements for the business units and corporate functions across NTUC
First Campus and NTUC Health
● Work with interdisciplinary teams to plan, identify and collect data from multiple systems
to support data science / analytics projects
● Work with data engineers to build and automate data workflows such as extraction,
transformation, and load (ETL) to transform raw data for project purposes
● Work with machine learning engineer team to deploy analytical/optimization solutions to
realize business value
● Contribute to the foundation of state-of-the-art scientific and technical data science
capabilities within the CoE team in order to support several planned and ongoing data
analytics projects.
● Research and experiment new technologies from vendors and identify opportunities to
enable data science capabilities
● Guide junior personnel to implement data science solutions for the organisations
● Contribute to our internal data science & analytics communities and special interest
groups to upskill staff
Requirements
● Phd/Master in Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Finance, Engineering
● Deep understanding of statistical analysis, data mining, machine learning, and GenAI
● Practical experience in working with large structured and unstructured data sets
● Ability to think analytically and translate business requirements into data science
solutions that will deliver results to drive business decision making
● Team player to build strong business partnerships
● Competent in one or more of the following programming languages or tools: Python, R,
Spark, Hive, Impala Pig or Scala
● Familiarity with database languages (e.g. SQL)
● Experience or knowledge in AWS/GCP environment will be a plus
● Ability to write production code will be an advantage
● Prepared to take on new challenges and ad-hoc requests that need a quick turn-around
● At least 3 years of data science experience
