Scope of duties for the position of Innovation Manager shall include:
1. Assist in screening of technology disclosures for fit into the company’s IP portfolio, which includes gathering information & profile of technology development team and startups through desktop research and/or interviews with the inventor(s).
2. Lead due diligence assessment for deeptech startups in the defined sectors.
3. Identify, analyze, classify, and segment the technological opportunities from the local and global ecosystems in alignment with company and stakeholders’ innovation needs and investment interests.
4. Clearly articulate value proposition including conceptual positioning, technology benchmarking, and IP landscape.
5. Follow or drive internal technical assessment of those opportunities through the decision process.
6. Manage further technical and business engagement with selected partners.
7. Develop the business case by consolidating overall assessment and value proposition of selected opportunity.
8. Work with the technology development team to prepare the technology and product development plan and business proposals to the industry partners and/or investors.
Qualification Requirements:
1. Master or PhD degree, education background in energy, materials, chemistry, biomedical or innovation management background.
2. Ideally 3 years of relevant working experience, prior experience in a technology commercialization and/or tech company investment function would be advantageous. Fresh graduates from relevant backgrounds are welcome.
3. Able to appreciate and analyze a broad range of topics beyond one’s field of education and experience, and with curiosity in emerging fields and technology trends.
4. Able to appreciate and understand new technologies, carry out technology due-diligence and market assessments in assessment of commercialization potential.
5. Able to organize and present findings clearly using suitable tools and software, e.g., patent searching
6. Able to cultivate networks and build alliances with strategic partners
7. Strong level of self-motivation with entrepreneurial spirit
8. Good written and verbal communication skills
9. Bilingual in English and Chinese
