POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director will work on a wide array of investigative matters, e.g., due diligence, complex litigation support, anti-corruption investigations, shareholder activism and asset tracing investigations. They will be highly proficient in a broad array of investigative and research methods and apply expertise in fact gathering techniques. They will be highly skilled in utilizing appropriate resources (e.g., proprietary research databases and in-depth Internet research skills) and technology to support investigations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collect and analyze data from various public record repositories and databases to identify information pertinent to project objectives.
- Review and analyze publicly available social media information and other relevant online platforms.
- Prepare initial investigative research reports and compile background information on subjects.
- Draft and present findings in written reports and verbal presentations to case managers and clients.
- Documenting results through graphic displays and reports that present clear visual representations of analytical information.
- Assist in the preparation of business proposals to develop and produce investigative case work.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Required:
- Proven experience working on complex investigations for legal, corporate, and financial sector clients.
- Comprehensive knowledge of and proven experience working with Japanese law firms, trading houses, and banks.
- Demonstrated expertise carrying out investigations in Japan and Asia for international law firms, multi-national corporationss, and banks.
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms and open source research techniques.
- Experience using a variety of proprietary databases, including those that aggregate commercial data on companies in Asia.
- Strong analytical skills; able to present investigative results and sound recommendations.
- Ability to evaluate investigative findings and effectively communicate findings to clients via written and verbal reports.
- Strong problem solver with the ability to offer creative solutions.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Outstanding organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong technical aptitude; ability to learn new systems and mine data from various technologies.
- High level of curiosity and tenacity to uncover critical information and intelligence.
- Flexible in response to changing priorities and scope of work.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree.
· At least 7 years of experience in professional services conducting research and analysis.
· Demonstrated experience and success working with Japanese clients.
