Consultant Developers are responsible for delivering great code to clients. They are embedded in a client environment to exemplify best practice, improve overall team standards and help spread optimal modern methodologies to product build to the client organization. Clients are within regulated environments, so an appreciation of the added complexity this introduces is essential.
Key responsibilities:
- Shipping great code
- Ensuring best practice around unit testing
- Suggesting and implementing modern frameworks and architectures
- Mentoring other developers and leading by example
- Develop a strong understanding of client requirements and business objectives
- Maintain a high standard of project documentation
- Achieve all of the above whilst ensuring compliance to relevant internal and external policies, but challenging “it’s just the way we do it” statements
Capabilities/experience required:
- Technical Simplicity: Preference for technical simplicity over complexity, with the ability to reduce technical complexity effectively
- Experience: Over 7+ years of experience in analysis, design, development, and testing of software applications
- Agile Methodologies: Real-world experience with Agile methodologies, capable of explaining their advantages and pitfalls using examples
- Complex Solutions: Experience in implementing complex software solutions in production, with an understanding of when to use high-scale components
- Production Experience: Production experience with either Kotlin or Flutter
- Regulated Environments: Deep experience working in regulated environments
- Varied Experience: Ideally, experience working at startups, scale-ups, and enterprises, with an understanding of the different technical approaches required at each stage
- Communication: Excellent spoken and written English, with strong communication, collaboration, and team-building skills
- Self-Starter: A self-starter who is always inclined to learn new technologies and is a team player with excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Project Lead Experience: Experience in project leadership is a plus
- High Energy: High energy and an easy-going but enthusiastic demeanor
- Motivational Skills: Ability to motivate others and an inclination towards action and results rather than just discussion
