The role

ALS is seeking to employ a highly experienced and motivated individual to lead our IT team in the Asia region. This position will be full-time and based at one of the existing ALS facilities within Asia.

The successful candidate for this position will be part of a regional IT Operations team reporting to the IT Operations Manager, Asia. The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. They will also actively resolve problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within the company

The day to day

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Install, configure, and maintain software and hardware components of the computer and network systems
  • Manage and maintain servers, ensuring they are secure, efficient, and operational at all times
  • Set up, maintain, and monitor the company's LAN, ensuring optimal performance
  • Provide technical support and guidance to users, addressing and resolving IT-related issues promptly
  • Ensure regular and reliable backup operations for all critical systems and data
  • Monitor system performance and ensure system availability and reliability. Perform network and system tuning and upgrades as needed
  • Maintain detailed documentation of the company’s IT infrastructure, including system configurations, procedures, and policies
  • Ensure that all systems comply with industry standards and regional legal regulations
  • Provide training and technical support to staff and end-users

The essentials

To be successful, you will ideally possess the following:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working within IT operational and service desk teams
  • Relevant training and certifications are highly desirable (e.g. ITIL, MCSE)
  • The ability to be a proactive team player with the skills to lead projects and communicate with all stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Strong problem solving and issue resolution skills
  • Highly self-motivated and directed
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply root cause analysis in problem solving
  • Availability for flexible working hours and occasional travel to national and international locations
  • Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Knowledge of network protocols, services, and standards (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, etc.)
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus
  • Familiarity with scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, Bash, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of IT security principles and practices
