Job Description
The Associate Director will lead the Communications pillar in the Outreach Team at NUS College . He or she will lead the development and implementation of comprehensive communication strategies to enhance the College's visibility, reputation, and outreach with key stakeholders. This role involves managing all aspects of internal and external communications, including media relations, digital communications, marketing, and branding.
Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Communications:
• Develop and implement a robust communications strategy that aligns with the College’s mission and ambitions
• Oversee the creation and dissemination of key messages to ensure consistency and clarity in all communications
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies, making adjustments as necessary
Media Relations:
• Build and maintain relationships with local, regional, and international media
• Serve as the primary spokesperson for NUS College
• Coordinate media coverage for events, announcements, and other significant activities
Digital and Social Media:
• Guiding the communications team members, oversee the College’s digital presence, including website management and social media platforms
• Develop engaging content for digital channels to promote the College’s activities and achievements
• Monitor online engagement and analytics to inform digital communication strategies
Internal Communications:
• Ensure effective communication within the College community, including students, faculty, administrative staff as well as alumni and donors
• Develop and implement internal communication initiatives to foster a cohesive and informed community
• Manage internal newsletters, announcements, and other communication channels
Branding:
• Lead branding initiatives (e.g. admissions video) to enhance the College’s identity and visibility
• Collaborate with the admissions outreach team to develop marketing materials and campaigns to attract prospective students
• Working with the communications team, ensure consistency in branding across all communication platforms and materials
Crisis Communications:
• Develop and implement crisis communication plans
• Act as the primary contact for crisis communications, ensuring timely and accurate information dissemination
Stakeholder Engagement:
• Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including alumni, donors, partners, and the wider community
• Coordinate communication efforts to support various events, ministry-level visits and partnership initiatives
Additional Responsibilities:
• Work with other administrative teams in NUS College on cross-functional and shared duties
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in communications, with a proven track record in a leadership role and able to mentor a youthful team
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Strong understanding of media relations and digital communications
• Experience with change management, strategic planning and execution of communication initiatives
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under pressure
• Proficiency in using communication and digital marketing tools and platforms
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups
• Knowledge of the higher education sector is an advantage.
