Job Overview
The Sales Manager is responsible for leading and guiding a team of salespeople in an organisation. They set sales goals, build a sales plan, analyse data, assign sales training and territories, mentor the members of their sales team, and are involved in the hiring and firing process. The Sales Manager is also responsible for ensuring that their team meets the company's revenue targets.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the sales team to achieve their sales goals.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and feedback.
- Develop and implement training programs for new hires and existing team members.
Sales Strategy
- Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve company sales targets.
- Analyse sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth.
- Create and manage sales plans and budgets.
Customer Relationship Management
- Maintain relationships with key customers and partners.
- Resolve customer complaints and issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Oversee the management of customer accounts and ensure customer satisfaction.
Sales Operations
- Monitor sales metrics and adjust strategies as necessary.
- Oversee the sales pipeline and ensure accurate forecasting.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as marketing and product development, to align strategies.
- Prepare regular sales reports for senior management.
- Analyze sales performance and provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Use CRM tools and other software to track sales performance and customer interactions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Sales Manager or in a similar role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to analyse data and sales statistics and translate results into better solutions.
- Proficient in MS Office and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce).
Preferred Skills
- Experience in the industry related to the company's products or services.
- Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of sales performance metrics.
- Ability to travel as needed.
