Stephenson Harwood Llp

Stephenson Harwood Llp company logo

What we will offer:

We will offer you a place where you can be yourself and where there are no limits on what you can achieve. With us, you can take ownership of your career and have honest conversations throughout. You would join an ambitious firm with a clear strategy for profitable growth where you can get early responsibility and early involvement in growing the business. Here you can expect a competitive and fair reward as well as recognition based on all round performance. This forms part of our internal promise to you, The Deal, between the firm and its employees.

Team structure

Stephenson Harwood has been established in Asia since 1979, where a majority of its offices and more than a quarter of the firm's headcount reside. The Singapore office was established in 1996, and houses a 60+ lawyer team practising in multiple areas within a licensed, formal law alliance between Stephenson Harwood LLP and Virtus Law LLP. This role is working within the award-winning, commercially-minded and dedicated Stephenson Harwood corporate practice, that is recognised and ranked by The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners.

Main responsibilities

This is a rare, multi-disciplinary role for a motivated & high-performing individual looking to work in fast-growing areas of legal practice. The two main areas of practice for the successful candidate are:

  • M&A transactional matters, typically on a cross-border basis, including drafting transaction documents, conducting due diligence and conducting research on legal and regulatory issues; and
  • International sanctions, including advisory work, conducting due diligence, handling delisting applications, preparing and managing applications for specific licences and to release blocked funds.

Most of our roles are hybrid, meaning that colleagues benefit from working in our office and remotely. We are happy to discuss this and other flexible working arrangements with you as part of the application and interview process.

Attributes / skills required

  • 2 to 4 years PQE, at highly-regarded law firm(s).
  • Ideally, admission to practice law in the U.S., but this is not essential.
  • Strong corporate / M&A experience, with cross-border experience preferred.
  • Experience in and/or interest in developing expertise in international sanctions.
  • Ability to work independently, within challenging deadlines, along with excellent legal drafting, presentation, analytical, communication and other technical skills.
  • Excellent research skills and a natural interest in corporate and sanctions developments.
  • Interest in attending business development and profile-raising events.
  • Proactive attitude to the involved legal practice areas, strong work ethic and good interpersonal skills.

This job description is indicative only and does not represent an exhaustive list of responsibilities. The firm reserves the right to alter or change the responsibilities at any time, in line with the firm's strategy and business needs.
