We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee daily operations and logistics within our commodity trading company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing operations, purchasing, and a thorough understanding of import and export procedures, particularly in commodities such as onions, potatoes, and dairy products.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage daily operations of the commodity trading business, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow.
- Supervise purchasing activities, including sourcing, negotiation, and procurement of commodities like onions, potatoes, and dairy products.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize inventory management and ensure adequate stock levels.
- Monitor and manage logistics operations, coordinating shipments, and ensuring timely delivery of commodities to customers.
- Maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors, negotiating contracts and resolving any issues that may arise.
- Ensure compliance with import and export regulations and procedures, including documentation, customs clearance, and tariffs.
- Analyze market trends and pricing to make informed decisions regarding purchasing and pricing strategies.
- Implement and enforce health and safety protocols within the operations environment.
- Collaborate with other departments, including sales, finance, and quality control, to streamline operations and achieve business objectives.
- Prepare reports and presentations on operational performance, budgeting, and forecasting.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Proven experience as an Operations Manager or similar role within the commodity trading industry, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Strong knowledge of import and export procedures, including customs regulations and documentation requirements.
- Excellent leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
- Solid understanding of purchasing strategies, inventory management, and logistics operations.
- Ability to analyze data and market trends to make strategic decisions.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and ERP software.
- Certification in Supply Chain Management or Operations Management is a plus.
